Hello all! Wondering if anyone can help me. I've got a DJ console MP3 an i'm using virtual dj 3.something (and the demo version of 4).
is there any way of slowing down the amount of pitch bend when you use the jog dials? It's really far too sharp and I keep over-bending and messing up the mix. I've been a DJ for about 5 years now and i'm used to the feel of my CDJ's but it would be a lot nicer if I could adjust VDJ's pitch bend to about the same speed as the cdj.
I've noticed the pitch bend buttons also seem too strong.

Any help would be greatfully recived!!

Thank you!

Steve.

thanks for that :) But it says my level is not high enough though?

I can't believe how much of this site is unavailable to me as a registered user :( seems a bit mean after shelling out £100...

Is there any other way of doing it?

Thanks again!

You need to be a Pro license user and you have home edition.

Yes, it's not really written with big bold fonts on the box (which is missleading for buyers not taking a second look at the package) when you purchase the console, but the truth is - by buying the hercules product you recieved a free version of VDj. I know, there have been frustrations and endless debates regarding these limitations, but it's just the way it is.

At least there is a discount price for home edition users..

Regards.

@rai1yr

I don't know if you can modify the xml file in the mp3 control, but if so try doing this:
  • Select the jog dial you want to go slowly, then in pitch bend settings give a value of +-350 it should work just fine, do the same with both jog dials, and don't forget to select deck1 for the first one and deck2 for the second one, hope this helps.

that sounds promising! Not sure which xml file it's in tho? is it the midi_bcd2000.xml file? any idea wich bit the jog dials are?

Sorry to blag!!!

Thanks for helping!

is it nudge? set at the mo to +-1024?

Inviato Sun 17 Sep 06 @ 7:18 pm
can be nudge or pitch bend is up to you, and yes it should be similar to the bcd2000, 1024 is too high but you can check if it works fine for you.

ok tried that but it had no effect I could see :(

this is what i've got (from bcd2000 file) -
before -
<note note="3" action="nudge" chan="1" value="+1024" />
<note note="2" action="nudge" chan="1" value="-1024" />
<note note="9" action="nudge" chan="2" value="+1024" />
<note note="8" action="nudge" chan="2" value="-1024" />
<ctrl ctrl="18" action="scratchwheel" chan="2" value="-128" ctrlvalue="65" />
<ctrl ctrl="19" action="scratchwheel" chan="1" value="-128" ctrlvalue="65" />
<ctrl ctrl="18" action="scratchwheel" chan="2" value="+128" ctrlvalue="66" />
<ctrl ctrl="19" action="scratchwheel" chan="1" value="+128" ctrlvalue="66" />

After -
<note note="3" action="nudge" chan="1" value="+350" />
<note note="2" action="nudge" chan="1" value="-350" />
<note note="9" action="nudge" chan="2" value="+350" />
<note note="8" action="nudge" chan="2" value="-350" />
<ctrl ctrl="18" action="scratchwheel" chan="2" value="-128" ctrlvalue="65" />
<ctrl ctrl="19" action="scratchwheel" chan="1" value="-128" ctrlvalue="65" />
<ctrl ctrl="18" action="scratchwheel" chan="2" value="+128" ctrlvalue="66" />
<ctrl ctrl="19" action="scratchwheel" chan="1" value="+128" ctrlvalue="66" />

I tried changing the scratch wheel value aswell.

I'm in the wrong file I think! cant find any others tho...

I really appreciate this! your a star :)

If nudges don't work fine try changing to pitch bend and give the values I already told you. other wise give nudges a value of -+250. Although that file is for the bcd2000 and hercules should have its own xml file .

checked every xml file in the VDJ folder and the hercules folder but nothing seems to be for the hercules.

Nevermind - I guess i'll just have to get used to it and stop moaning!!

Thanks loads for all your help manquin_dj!

You're welcome my friend I guess that mp3 control can't be configured with midi notes.
