Topic: Soundcard for TCV (DJ N Norway)

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Ok i have read lots of topics on here and still really only see about 3 main soundcards recomended!

I am using a laptop and will be hooking this up to my external mixer and turntables! So this will have to be a USB soundcard with inputs for my turntables and im looking to find something fairly cheap but still has a good sound quality.

u46dj - seems like a good bet from what i see but is there a cheaper alternative
delta 44 - thought it was an external but come to find out its for a desktop but was the price range i
was looking for.
maya 44 - why did they discontinue it? perfect price and from what i see good sound
Hercules - now im looking to more of the ecler NUO4 since im using my turntables for controlling the internal software so im really not wanting to spend the $280 on this just to use as a soundcard.

any suggestions on a good quality soundcard for TCV use thats in the price range of delta 44?

There are sevral GOOD options for timecode, such as :
- Delta 44 PCI
- Soundblaster X-FI Elite or Platinum PCI
- Maya 44 PCI
- Prosonious Firewire
- Shaffire LE Firewire
- U46dj USB
- Maya 44 usb
etc, etc

Norway my laptop doesnt have firewire but would it be worth me buying an adapter for my PC slot so i could use the Prosorious? I know the procorious gets better lattency from what i read like 1 -2 compared to u46dj which gets around 10? is it worth it to spend the extra $100 on the procirious? would the 8ms of latency differental make a big difference? im a hip hop dj and do alot of scratching so i want something that can handle that with no problems

If it helps, I have the Hercules Mk2 which can produce 10ms latency and would be so much happier with something quicker. However, I'm quite sure the U46DJ can achieve latency lower than 10ms. Firewire has a key benefit over USB2, even the older (slower) format; it's to do with power management where Firewire is dedicated but USB is shared; a firewire card in theory would cause less problems although so many users here use the U46DJ that I think firewire / usb isn't so much of an issue.

Sorry I can't answer your question in full, but personaly I don't think it's worth spending the extra money for the firewire setup if you do not already have firewire (this is if the U46DJ can achieve the lower latency settings). Otherwise, being a hip-hop scratch DJ you will appreciate the lower latency of the Prosorious - but only if the U46DJ is like you said, 10ms with latency.

Of course it is possible. To show you that this cheap alternative is recommend.Check out these specialists. The Griffin Imic also comes with a Y cable used to send the signal from the TT's going from double male rca jacks to stereo 1/8 jack.Check out this review if no one believes me. At the side of all their recommended products are the words(Lab recommended).

Cool, I had tried before with the asio4all drivers but wasn't satisfied with the performance, although maybe things would be better now that I have a faster and higher spec machine, will try and give it a go - just a shame the right wheel on my console has the spinback problem.
