Topic: Have 2 Problems. MK2 and SSL

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I had everything working perfectly with my MK2, due to a virus infection had to erase everything and reisntall everything. I have tried to mess around with the configurations for two weeks and still puzzled what to do.

Problem:

1) I installed the MK2 with the drivers provided by hercules from there website. I have the latest version of VDJ (4.2r1), also some mapping feature (DJX mapper v4.2 by DJ Cel). I was getting an error with something about Direct X so I downloaded the 9.0c version. I can not for anything get sound out of MK2 keeps giving me error Direct X. A couple of times sound did come out of it but tried scratching with jog wheel and all it does is slow down the song or speed up and I have enabled that featured. Really frustrated. I want to know. Steps from someone that has the MK2 and 4.2r1. How they did a fresh install, where did they get the drivers from and what settings you have?

2) I bought SSL1 and was messing around with that since my MK2 wasnt working. (Funny thing is that I plug in the MK2 at the same time and the mk2 works fine)Anyways I can get everything to work fine but every so often it doesnt read the cd players and either keeps playing and doesnt respond to my dvj turntable. Also if I hit to the begining of track it keeps playing like nothing happen. Also sometimes I hit play on the turntable and goes extremely slow and crackling noise. Just horrible. Im using the time code Cds provided with the SSL and DVJ turntable to read it. Any suggestions to make it work perfectly like I see other claiming to have.

Setup:
Alienware (AMD Turion 64 Mobile)
2.00 Gig Ram
2 NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS (1 Gig)
Windows XP

2 Pioneer DVJs
Stanton Audio Mixer

1)
DirectX error message is a bit of a bummer..
Doesnt really mean a directX error, but rather soundcard set up wrong in VDJ (direct sound errror)
So check your soundcard settings, and your corresponding settings in Hercules control pannel, and make sure its a logic setting.
That way the error message should be gone.
(will come back if you restart VDJ without herc, if thats the soundcard set, but dont worry about it, just change your settings again)

2)
Are you having problems with SSL? Well, you should visit Scratch Live forum, as I dont really know that software too well ;)
SSL timecode can be used with VDJ, but have intentional limitations. Download the free VDJ timecode CD to use with VDJ

http://www.virtualdj.com/products/timecode/VDJTimeCode.mp3

If using with Hercules
(A) - OPEN the mp3 file in a wave editor, such as Audacity (Free, google), and lower the volume by -13db (because Pioneer decks play too loud for Hercules, and Hercules dont have a level setting for input)
(B) - Make sure you have AUTO set for latency in VDJ (performance tab), THEN choose timecode config, and choose auto config to set up timecode

ALSO, make sure you have opened up for line in at Hercules first, you do this in Hercules control pannel, next to volume sliders. Click the PC icon, and make it change to a turntable icon, for both inputs.

Hope that helps

I'm using the SSL1 like a soundcard using VDJ as the software. Ill try the timecode. See what happens.

If I wanna use the MK2 without TCCDS. Just by itself what are the correct settings and software?

When using the SL-1 box, make sure you have AUTO set for latency in VDJ performance tab, or else it wont work good.

And even though the SL-1 card works good with VDJ, the SSL timecode doesnt. It works ok, but not good. So, use VDJ timecode.

The Hercules without timecode can be set up easily in VDJ.
Choose it as soundcard, and choose what output you want (speaker + headphone, or external mixer)
If you choose external mixer, you also need to choose that in the Hercules control pannel

Hope that helps:)
