I've slimmed my database to about 75,000 tracks down from 128,000 (got rid of some older techno) I noticed this in the newest version. It takes anywhere from 3-5 minutes for the program to shut down once I click the X to close the window. Is the a side effect from xml?

It rebuilds the database at shut-down.

With 75.000 trax (!!!) it will take some time..... ;)

I usually force the close when XP asks me if I want to end the program now. Is that bad? I usually don't want to sit there and wait. To date, I have had no issues...

Vantinedj, don't do that.
When you close the program it overwrites the database
from memory to the hard disk, (open the vdj folder at that time and see for yourself how the filesize is grow)

I saw database programs having an "optimize" database
command, to reduce its size and to do something like defrag.
I think vdj needs something like this.

@Cyderhouse, you deleted some file from your hard drive.
This does not mean that they are deleted from database too...

in any case...
backup, backup, backup...

I quess the question worth asking is why does the interface disappear before the program has totally shut down.
A wait window seems to be in order.

It doesn't seem like the program should even allow this to protect the database like other programs do.
