Hi there sorry for posting twice and sorry for not answering back quickly, been away working.
Ok specs are
vdj 5.2 pro
Herc mrk2 with updated vista drivers
Laptop - compaq presario
amd turion mobile 64 ml-34 1.8ghz
vista ultimate sp1
1.50gb ram
32 bit operating system
i kill all background processes when running VDJ ie anti virus, wireles etc etc.
i also run mixmiester fusion on this lappy with no problems at all, it's VDJ that has the jumping/stuttering problem?? Driving me NUTS!!!!!
Thanks
Andy

go to start/type in device manager
Disable all network controllers, disable webcam, disable battery control(not the AC battery, the control), disable as much stuff that's not essential to the computer(DON"T disable keyboard, mouse, etc)
after doing these try doing it again
USE THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK... NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU MESS UP YOUR COMPUTER
