Topic: VAT???? whats that about?

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Just a small moan, but still, why have I just paid VAT on a product from the US?

and why not mention it until the very last step of payment?

And why did I not recieve the 10% discount for electronic delivery?

or the $20 off for upgrading?

I like to moan, but it did add 50 quid to the first price it showed me, which I do believe tobe out of order.

Or is that just me?

And I have just noticed that when I bought my TCV I was charged 25 notes for international postage, only to find that they were posted from sussex for the princly sum of 6 quid?

your views please

Yep, I was stung like aswell, I was supposed to get a discount as I owned a mk2, but after the VAT charge, it worked out about the same as the normal price.

But I didn't mind really, as it played for it self on the first weekend of VirtualDJ :)

Right, off now to my gig.

enjoy your Gig,

But still, why are we paying VAT?

especially to an EU VAt number, when the offices are in the US?

I do have basic knowlege of how this works.....but this has stumped me

Does anyone know......does anyone care?

I guess it down to our rip off government. We always get shafted in this country!!!!!

I live in Canada and we get charged taxes when we import from another Country as well. In the UK You can reclaim your VAT if you purchased a product for your business from what I understand. I found this info on google. So if your business is registered or legit take advantage of reclaiming your VAT. Not sure if this info will help but I was bored and needed something to do this morning???

International trade VAT: the basics
How to reclaim VAT on imports
In general, you can reclaim the import VAT that you've paid for business goods. This claim should be made on your VAT return for the period during which the goods were imported.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will send you a C79 certificate to show what import VAT you have paid, and you will need to keep it as evidence to support your claim, for inspection by a VAT visiting officer.

wow, you really were bored.

Am not a business so I have said goodbye to that money, however am still a little annoyed at the promised discounts that didnt appear, and the fact that I was charged international shipping for something posted from this country.

And now am getting irked that nobody from VDJ has commented.

It all seems a little cowboyish

I too know how you feel guys.

Here are my thoughts

What did you import? Did you get a boxed product sent to you through the post?

I presume like me you downloaded the "Data". Now forgive me if I'm stupid but I don't think I've ever paid VAT for downloading information (data) from Microsofts website.

It does reek a bit as I can't imagine that VDJ is sold through the website in bulk. It's sold to end users and as such the full price should be displayed on all pages.

Having said that It's the best value for money product you can get IMHO. Trying buying 2 x CDJ's mixer etc for £150
