If you are a DJ then you know exactly what DJ Jose Rodriguez is making a reference to. Salsa, Salsa and more Salsa, is what people know him for today. Being a music lover has helped Jose continue to broaden his DJ experience by participating in more events worldwide that include music from all cultures not just his own. Jose's love of music as well as its origin and history has motivated him to compile an extensive collection of music which dates back to the early 1940's. Jose does not that attribute his success to the many venues he has played, or to how much music he has, but instead to the people that enjoy coming out to support him at all his events. Jose is constantly trying to learn more and more about all types and genres of music and is eager to impart what he has learned to anyone who is willing to listen. Jose is a firm advocate for Dance groups that not only wish to dance but want to learn about the rich history of the music that they dance to. He is always supportive and available to all groups that may need his help with music, advice, etc. Jose has been featured at major events such as the Miami Mambo Project 2006-2007, NYC Salsa Congress 2003-2010, 2005-2010 All-Star Salsa Cruise, Atlanta Salsa Congress 2006-2010 Washington DC Parties thrown by Stuck on Salsa, and 1st Annual St. Marten's Salsa Escape hosted by Henry Knowles. Jose is also the DJ called upon by major Spanish Affiliates around the city and tri-state area for events such as Taller Puertoriqueno's 35th anniversary, Concilio's annual Puerto Rican Day Parade Gala, and Aspira's Annual Gala. Some of his corporate client base consists of such companies as National Council of La Raza, Comcast, Campbells Soup, Temple University, WEWB-TV, Albany, New York just to name a few. Jose has opened up for some of the biggest names in Latin Salsa Music. Here is a list of some: •El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico •La Sonora Poncena •Willie Rosario •Gilberto Santa Rosa •India •Huey Dunbar •Oscar De Leon •Gilberto Santa Rosa •Son de Cali •Grupo Niche •Jose Alberto •Tito Allen •Frankie Negron •Spanish Harlem Orquestra •Jimmy Bosch •Lebron Brothers •Adalberto Santiago •Domingo Quinones •La Selecta •Cano Estremera •Domingo Quinones •Victor Manuelle
In Jose's eyes, he doesn't believe that he has followers or fans. He believes that people follow the music. In his opinion it is the music not himself which that is the attraction of the events. Jose has been quoted to say: "The Star of any Salsa event is not the performers, or the shows that you see, but the Music……The music is the only star of the show. Respect the music you hear. The songs you dance to, listen to, drive to, work out to be the stories of our history, culture and life experiences. The dance should never take precedence over the music". Although Jose has enjoyed a great deal of success over the years as a DJ, he always lives his life by the following motto: "The only way that you will be successful in this business is to remember you can be on top one day and off the map the next…" Jose is a respected member of (NAME) National Association of Mobile Entertainers, The internationally respected Record Pool, Latinos Unidos Record Pool, and a committee member of The Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC)
