I like it!
Great PCI alternative for video output and could work very well if customized support was added.
This would also allow you to have multiple cards & route multiple video signals to a video mixer... could be very interesting

The specs are good, have many features BUT... This Video Card is for upgrade an old PC, (Have an optional adapter for RGB Monitors (15 years old at last, when they run out cause VGA shows up. Could be use for some old OLD video projectors too). Runs on PCI wich is slower than AGP, and slower than PCI Express. It's a great product, but I'm not sure we fit into the planned market for this card.

The card is great, realy good video quality. Not sure if you can have to installed. I have API for the card even for OSD, lite tricky to do, but possible. So I hope you add this feature.

ummm most graphic cards have their own memory and gpu for video. Vdj takes full advantage of that. Which is why some card mainly slower ones have issues.

Sorry, This card isn't much more than a fancy I/O running on a 33 mhz bus. I think it would choke on vdj. Look into getting something not so dated like a 6800 Gt, or its little brother the 6600 GT. Both of those cards would put this one to shame. Also the newer ones will run on a pcix bus. Quite simply pci doesn't have the bandwith you need for good video performace. Granted it will play dvd's so will a 10 dollar dvd player from walmart. look here

This is the bandwith of current graphic's i/o slots

PCI
132MB/s

AGP 1x
264MB/s

AGP 2x
528MB/s

AGP 4x
1056MB/s

AGP 8x
2112MB/s

x1
500MB/s (Single Data Lane - Both Directions)

x2
1000MB/s (Dual Data Lane - Both Directions)

x4
2000MB/s (Quadruple Data Lane - Both Directions)

x8
4000MB/s (Eight Data Lane - Both Directions)

x12
6000MB/s (Twelve Data Lane - Both Directions)

x16
8000MB/s (4000MB/s Per Direction (Two Directions))

as you can see here 8x agp is more then enough for what we are doing here. again, using pci for any graphics would be much too slow for good frame rates.

OK, I rest my case...

So what graphics card shall I go for to get a smooth video feed, preferly on a composite/S-VHS output and still VDJ on my computer screen.

Cyder already give a response. NVidia 6800GT or 6600GT. Or ATI X850 or X600. Use what fits in your computer. An AGP Card or a PCI Express Card.

Good Luck!

Hmm... The AGP card should then be around 4 times SLOWER than the PCI-E card. Is a same card AGP card as PCI-E card still good enough for video mixing?
Note to DeeJay Ken: PCI-E Cards require PCI-E suitable motherboards.
