I've just bought a Traktor Kontrol S2 which came with the full Traktor Software,Can I use VDJ with my S2? Can I map it? I am having problems getting it working.

unfortunately the S2 isn't supported by VDJ as Native instruments don't want it to be... If you do a search on the djtechtools forum there is someone selling one... you can define and map it yourself to work in full HID like in traktor but it will take a little time to learn the basics..

I have released a Traktor Kontrol S2 definition and mapper file, its pending review at the time of posting this.
my mapper is customised to my use, and i have unreleased personal changes on the version that i created for myself.
if you want me to customise it for you, i will be more than happy to do so.
also i can do mappers and definitions for any other Traktor Controllers you own.

I have both Traktor Pro and Virtual DJ and would love to use my Kontrol S4 with VDJ. Can you perhaps make a mapping for it? Then I could go back and start using VDJ again....

There is a user-made mapper for the S2 available from: http://www.virtualdj.com/addons/14420/Traktor_Kontrol_S2.html
To be able to download and use it, you will need to purchase and register the full VirtualDJ Professional: http://www.virtualdj.com/buy/index.html - The mapper is free to download once you have purchased the full software.

did you try the midi mapping and put the s2 in midi mode? I think it's done by pressing both shifts.
I remember reading instructions from techie about loading the ncc file. If that doesn't work you should use miditrace to find the sysex id as native might use multiple ones to prevent people mapping it to other software.

there they are, they only work properly in windows.
I cant find a good utility to trace HID on mac, so i havent been able to see whats causing it to misbehave in OS X.
