Why the music industry insists on annoying its customers instead of embracing the new mp3 technology is beyond me.

Maybe Sony should ask Beatport to clue them in on how profitable it is to have an drm-free mp3 store.

This said, fight back!

"the new mp3 technology" lol, the format selebrated 10 year anniversary some months ago, so it is not a new technology.

No, don't FIGHT BACK! Just as DON'T SMOKE INSIDE THE BARS in Fla and Cali, because it's illegal. Just as don't start a fight in the club because it's illegal (and you WILL go to jail). Just as pay for gas when you pump it and don't drive off. Just because you don't agree with the law, it doesn't make your actions legal.

C'mon, how silly is this--you're making money playing someone else's music and you refuse to pay them?

Back to the Sony case--there are a number of lawsuits pending now regarding the installation of the rootkit software, but think about what happens if Sony wins: it could potentially make it legal to monitor your computer activity and you may just agree to it by hurriedly clicking "I Agree" of the End User License Agreement during the installation. Stay tuned!

Actually this suit cannot be won. I remember Microsoft doing this way back with the "windows update"

This act is called "Invasion of privacy" and that is illegal by law.

If Sony does go through and wins this they will have millions of law suits for invasion of privacy.

Best Regards

Now if this was the only concern of this debacle ...

The uninstall tool that Sony offers has a program that is permanently installed deep in your computer to open the door to delete the complicated mess Sony discs are installing "WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION"

This program opens a doorway for thousands of unscrupulous sites to install further mallware, spyware and yes even a doorway for remotely controlling / monitoring your entire system.

YOU CANNOT REMOVE THIS!

This is a mess.

Save your important data and restart your system if you have used a Sony music disc or even their DVDs in your computer.
