Here is my suggestion.
Look at the newer mixer/controllers that are beeing produced by vestax/numark/berginger/hercules.
I like something similar to these. but with some changes/tweaks.
1) Standard 19" rack mountable for clubs/ mobile racks.
2) As metioned previously - good quality buttons.
3) Moterized (min 8") Hall-effect touch senistive joggle platter. With a hall effect it is bulletproof reliable(your car's distributer uses them) and if the windows are close enough together the touch sensitivity can Duplicate any turntable feel. Right down to touch brakes, juggles, and thumbnail slowdowns. Best part is the signal out of the Hall effect Sensor is a Digital Waveform, no conversion.
4) Look at the (personal preference only) DJ console Skin. The older one. This has most of the features I look for when DJ'ing - Play/pause/cue
- Programmable cue points
- hot cue rewind.
- Fx functions.
- virtual Effect rack play Buttons
- Crossfader
- one thing that i would like added to the main controller is a 3rd Fader for the effects rack, that way if playing a sound effect/movie quote/ cub radio commercial that can be put into the third channel and used independantly of the main volumes, This is nice if you have a mash up of two songs going.
SO with the motorized jog wheels it would be a little large but no bigger than a cd controller and mixer combination would be now.
And An ASIO compliant soundcard would be nessesary as an imbedded device For timecodes if someone just abolutely must have turntables, and to be all-in one, cuase as it being a 3 channel mixer you have to get the sound out somehow because adding a seperate mixer is redundant
I know that the Diameter of the jog wheels is 16" but everything else can be placed nicely above the two rotating platters, and they're far enough apart that it would be like a side by side set up for turntable scratching.
Just a few thoughts off the top if my head.
