does anyone here use a keyboard to map the 12 channel sampler
this way you could change the pitch control etc. and create different effects
also, is this possible?
thanks in advance

not quite getting what it is that you want to do...

if you could be a bit moe specific, it would be great...

cheers

I think he wants to map the sampler like a mixer with a keyboard.

so he can adjust pitch and be able to use it like 12 more decks

did I understand you?

i would like to use my "piano" keyboard as a sampler
i figure the only way to do this is to assign the vdj sampler (channels 1-12 on the basic skin) to various keys on the "piano" keyboard
is this possible?
does anyone do this?
i'm not using the keyboard to mix--i use my rane mixer for that
thanks

you can do this :)

hook your keyboards midi ports to your computer.

on remote control , enable "midi control"

then procede to map the keyboard

midi mapping

just repeat until the desired actions are all added.

I've tried this, and it works okay for some keys, but not for all. I also have a hard time getting the sliders and knobs working. Sometimes I get the same midi-value from the knobs as I get from the tangents. The keyboard works flawless in other music progs, and as far as I've understand (and that ain't to far) it has to do with midi-channels. Seems like VDJ doesn't handle more than one. Am I right? Can someone please explain?

thanks for the good info
just one more question
is there a way to play the keyboard through vdj rather than mapping it to the turntable or sampler?
can i play drum beats through it and record it?
can i play samples through it without having to load the vdj sampler and map it?
thanks all
after this i am buying a keyboard usb controller

theres no beat generation in virtual dj

so it wont create beats over midi , but if you get a full keyboard with midi and take the line out of the keyboard into an input on your soundcard you can play it that way.

so in other words you are suggesting i run my keyboard through my mixer and bypass vdj?
or---are you saying i can put keyboard into sound card input and it will play but not in vdj?
maybe i will just load samples in the sampler and map keyboard for the 12 of them
hmmmmmmm

if you want a keyboard note/ drum pad notes use the keyboard ouput

if you want samples use midi

I kinda know what you mean. I would like to see an improved sampler on vdj. Ive used ableton and i still prefer to dj with vdj. If the sampler could be upgraded into something similar to ableton with audio and tempo controls on each channel and effects it would allow incredible remix and even production opportunities. I think its the way VDJ should go, its cracked the dj side, now it should move on to the remix/production side for people who really want to mash up their music.

just an idea
