Is it possible your ram is acting up? As fatkatzdj said, does this happen when you run other intensive apps?

first , thanks for the replys!!
Some thoughts from tonight... I loaded the program and prepared some mics while it loaded completely. I recursed my Karaoke folder, took about 1 min (average) Then it just sat there waiting on me to load a song... I just looked at the screen and it went from 12% to locked up. I did nothing and it just jumped up. I began to think that something else was running in the back ground and conflicting with VDJ. I was wondering if this was a possiblity. I opened Task Manager and noticed that (while it was maxed out on my VDJ window)... It was fluctuating from 22 to 88 % in Task manager. There was a Windows Update manager running , I shut it down and realized that my wireless had hooked up ... I shut it down (because I took your advice, VDJ doesn't like to share )
I am going to check out the CPU usage without VDJ running right now... (only difference is that I have a second video screen hooked up for singers.
Thanks for hanging in there with me.
NOTE ... after shutting down some programs, VdJ ran fine with acceptable CPU usage even during load around 88%. I'm leaning to something else running in background that might be conflicting.

might have some helpful info.
I started the VDJ program and did nothing, I then opened up Task Manager and watched as other programs took my cpu usage... First it was Update.exe, running 52%
VDJ was actually idle at about 12% , but on the VDJ window cpu usage showed 90 plus... it wasn't VDJ using the CPU, it was Update.exe, as well as System and System idle running Crazy from 3% to 97% .
Could my computer have been trying to update itself and running crazy in the background that might be causing my problem?
thanks
I'm going to run a windows Update and see if it still seeks the updates.

how many processes do you have running in the background?
Inviato Fri 02 Nov 07 @ 9:37 am
I'm completing the updates... when you ask how many processes... does this include all those listed in Task Manager, under Processes... including those that are at 0% cpu usage?

34 processes, total.
the cpu usage has definitely changed... This may have been part of my problem, Cpu usage is at most 25%... and mostly around 3-12%. The machine must have been looking for updates. , It may have tried to get them when it was hooked up to wireless briefly. I welcome your thoughts on this matter. When loading songs... they are now flying , the VDJ cpu while loading is almost 99, but it is probably 4 times faster now loading a song.
I hope this is part of the remedy. I would like to take some programs out of start up and keep everything streamlined. thanks for all your help! Michael
When I load a Karaoke song , and activate the video window... usage jump from `12% to 35%

i might be wrong but i think that even processes not using the CPU are still running, their just "inactive" but ready to jump when you least expect it.
their sneaky that way
