I seem to have developed a little problem with my CDJ-400s. The control mapping seems to work OK (i.e. left deck and right deck are where I expect them to be) BUT I am only able to get audio out of whichever player I turn on first, and then only for deck 1. Deck 2 provides no output (however the meters seem to indicate audio is playing).

In the audio settings I am seeing 2 distinct entries for CDJ-400, but they no longer have a unique number behind them (like they did in the past).

I know the sound portion of each player works, as whichever one I turn on first ends up working as the active sound card.

I have swapped USB ports and USB cables, with no success.

I have recently installed and used a Hercules RMX, now when I went back to the Pioneers something is not working right. The RMX is not connected and I have un-installed the drivers.

Any suggestions as to what might have happened, and how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Niels.

I can't necessarily tell you what happened but... do like I told you in your PM to me. Install the ASIO drivers, they are better than the standard drivers, trust me...

Keep Spinnin'!!

My practice would be CDJ400s on > CDJ400s USB connect to PC/Laptop > Press USB in CDJ400s > Run VDJ.

Depending on your choice, if OUTPUT 2 soundcards is selected, you should get a 2 output option, e.g 1st soundcard = CDJ400 and 2nd soundcard = CDJ400 (2).

Or if you choice ASIO, then ASIO CDJ400.

For me, i found the response to be very good by using ASIO4all.
CDJ400 and ASIO4all seems like each other so much.
Give it a try though.

Thanks, all, for the responses. I am going to be back east where my CDJs are on Thursday night, I had not used ASIO4all with this setup in the past, will try and let you know how it goes.

3sky > I understand why you'd want to do it, but it's not good in practice. You're better off using the computer display to browse the track titles.

njonker > Install the ASIO drivers as suggested. You DO NOT NEED ASIO4All as it's only required by programs which can't use more than 1 soundcard (such as Traktor). VDJ is capable of assigning multiple soundcards for multiple outputs.

Extreme4dbt > You need a timecode CD, an audio interface and a bit of time on Google because this question has been answered before. Many times.

Hello. Is Virtual DJ is compatible with the Pioneer CMX-3000? Thank you!

The CMX is just a CD player ... you could try using it with a soundcard that takes inputs (Maya44 / Hercules Trim / NI Audio 4or8) for use with Timecodes. But most rackmount CD players are not ideal for Timecodes.

As cstoll says, the CMX isn't the ideal player for it, but it can work, you just need an audio interface and timecode CDs as indicated. I've used it and it does work but other players work better.

Fellow djs,

using the mep 7000, utilizing the dual soundcards as my output source from the 7000. and using a mac w vdj of course....i get satanic distortion for sound...if i let the music play, i feel hell will raise and everyone going to blame me....any advice or suggestions would be great help

seek and you shall find....
the answer lies within....

my first mac and i love it but who knew that double clicking mac hd, then going into applications, followed by utilities, clicking on the audio midi set up goto properties for pioneer mep 7000a and 7000b and changing the audio output format from 48..blah blah to 44100.0hz....and then you hear the angels sing...

pulse is genius...

THE MEP 7000 IN CD MODE STILL SENDS SIGNALS TO MY MAC....HOW DO I ADDRESS THIS SITUATION? THANKS IN ADVANCE..

Need some help.... I have two questions

1. Can I use VDJ w/ a DJM-707 mixer w/ 2ea. CDJ-800mk1 turntables?

2. If I can use them which external sound card should I get?

Any help is appreciated..

Thanks

Can Anyone Help? I'm new to dj'n and recently bought a behringer ddm4000 mixer with 2 cdj 400's. I use the latest virtual dj as my software( on a Mac) and am having one problem. Each cdj is connected to chn 1 and chn 4 respectively on the ddm 4000, but when I use it both cdj's play through only channel 1. Thanks

Hi!

Im not sure that is this problem because of my DJM-400 mixer. Anyway here it comes:

2x Technics 1200 turntables
1x Pioneer DJM400 mixer
Ortofon concorde pro s cartridges
Numark Virtual Vinyl

Laptop with 2ghz and vista 32-bit. 2gb memory.

I had problems and still have problem with VV to get things working without problems. One of my problems is with mixer Phono/Line switches (if it is even a problem):

On my numark vv soundcard box i have things set to phono and cables from Turntables come to it and goes out from there to mixer but if i want to hear good sound i must use Line on channel 1 and 2 at mixer?! - If i use Phono the sound is awful and music is very loud and breaks! - is this a problem or am i just blind understanding the manuals? :)

Would it be possible to choose/change the led pattern of the jogwheel in CJD400? that's in PC/Midi mode.
If so how?

<this forum software makes it difficult to multi-reply so please excuse me if I miss anyone!>

@Paulito > Are you using it in HID mode as a controller or did you use MIDI assignment?

@closz > You'll have to use the timecode CDs and connect everything as follows: CDJ outputs to soundcard inputs, soundcard outputs to mixer inputs. Almost any soundcard will work, there are plenty on the market, but you'll need at least 4 RCA inputs and 4 RCA outputs. The Maya44-USB is an inexpensive solution which will do you just fine.

@uphere > You just need to configure the sound output properly to use 2 Soundcards, then configure each virtual deck to use a different soundcard.

@hejzan > You can't use the emergency loop button because it's designed for measuring the BPM from the audio playing from the CD / DVD... which there is none. It doesn't know what to do in order to make a loop thus the "off balance" loops. Create manual loops, use the software shortcuts or get a MIDI controller and set up a button to do that for you.

@namii > Sounds like you need to set the switch on the 2nd input on the mixer (the LINE/PHONO) one over to PHONO mode. If you were to use the LINE outputs off the soundcard it would be fine.

@ranes > I'll leave that one to the VDJ guys!

No it's locked internal to the CDJ for only when it is in CD mode ... in HID mode it's the 1 swosh pattern.

Working on a new mapper and definition for the MEP7000 to correct this issue. The issue is how Pioneer indicates CD vs HID ... I know what is going on ... just need to devise how to 'fix' it.

@Pulse ... you had a chance to play with the CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900 and VirtualDJ v6.0.3 ???
