automatic updates yes or no.do they cause problems.just want my laptop to run smooth as hell for vdj and rmx.or what are the optimal set ups ect for my windows xp.i have implemented the hercules pc performance as my other post

Disable it if you have Internet connection on gig, it can make some troubles.
 
have them disabled all the time.but in general djalf
 
I have my windows auto update disabled all the time.
I only use it when i know there's a major windows update.
 
so do i.i check website every week for updates just not sure what updates are good for my laptop.i have sp3 what else is ther just for laptop goodness

Microsoft normally release updates once a month, and are mainly some sort of security updates, unless they have found something drastically worrying, but that only happens once in a blue moon.

I would just check every 3-4 weeks, that's what I do.

I use only major big updates like service packs and no problems at all.
