Topic: Help - VDJ Closes Out WO Smiley Face - Page: 1

Questa parte dell'argomento è obsoleta e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate

I'm not sure if someone has messed with the clubs cpu but during the last couple of shifts I had VDJ close out completely. WHen it happened it was when I went from the right list to type in the search box.

VDJ version 5.2.1 Pro.

Thanks for the insight.

bump.

Is anyone else having this occur? I faintly remember reading something about it but I can't find the post.

At least it had a smiley face ;) hehe
Just kidding..

The most likely cause would be a corrupt mp3 file, althought VDJ tries hard to close all such possibilties, there are always chances corrupt mp3s can crash any software.

But to know more about it, open the Crashguard report.txt inside VDJ folder (my documents), and post it here..

Had similar incident happen.

Video playing fine (about 2/3 done). Had played video before w/out problem.
Clicked on Search bar to look for next song.
Upon the first letter typed - video FROZE (music kept playing [that was nice])

Had to RESTART as soon as video's music was done.

NOT GOOD WITH A FULL DANCEFLOOR.

VDJ Version: 5.0.0.6

Haven't wanted to upgrade since this version had been working fine for me.

PS: Searched in My Documents > VDJ - No crashguard found (Guess it's because there was no smiley face ???)

Any Help would be appreciated. THANKS!

My Documents >> Virtual DJ >> Crashguard report.txt

Its inside there.. should be

But it might not have been written, if you didnt get that smiley face.. depends.

I had that problem with the beta for 5.0..
The new search was new then...

But this issue have been ironed out later...

You should update to 5.2 asap

dj-in-norway:
Thanks for the quick response.

Although JayMSY is running 5.2 and experience the same issue - I'm seriously considering updating to 5.2.
Is there a post that can walk me though doing it right?
Or is it as simple as CONTROL PANEL > ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS > then DELETE current VDJ?
Followed by installing VDJ 5.2?
Thanks in advance.

JayMSY:
Is this the post you were referring to?

VirtualDJ 5.2.1 has been the most solid one yet for me!!!!

I can't fault it. the next version will have to be something special to beat this version for me ;)

Not sure what his issue is yet, but doubtly the same

The "type and search crash" is something we know about for early 5.x version, and its gone for 5.2 :)
Not only that, the later 5.x version searches are a lot faster, and without any pop-up window (progress bar)

Thanks for the info.

I've upgraded to 5.2 and searched-found-and-installed updated video drivers.

Now I'll just wait and see. I'm cautiously optimistic.

If the issue occurs again - I'll post it here.

Thanks again.

Norway, there was no smiley face thus the "wo" in the topic. :) it just happened again. I had "let me think about it" in the search box and when I backspaced all the way back to nothing it crashed with no smiley face. The version on the clubs cpu is 5.2.1.

It didn't used to happen...only started recently. Maybe it is a bad file. I dunno but would certainly like to know.

Thank you much for the help.

alrighty I have a crashguard report this time but it is NOT from the "let me think about it" backspacing to empty the search box.

This one came from a having a song typed in, clicked on a song on the right side to load to deck 2 then moused over the search box, pressed mouse button and bam!

Note...This does NOT happen everytime I perform a search so what gives..???

Hello JayMSY:

You menioned it just started happening recently: If you are using video; have you recently started plugging into a different external monitor? For example, you were using S-video to S-video and recently changed to S-video to RCA?
These video cards are very tempermental and have read that changes of this sort can make the VC act up.

ALSO,
Not sure if this will help, but it's good housekeeping:
Have you tried updating your VIDEO DRIVERS?

You can see how old you Video Drivers are by doing this:
http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/100993/General_Discussion/What_are_my_Video_Card_specs___.html

The recommendation is that if your Drivers are older than 6 mo's, to search for updated ones.
You can down load the most popular ones from the same page listed above -
Scroll down to "Download drivers for most common graphics cards"

I'm sure everything is up to date. its not my cpu its my clubs so I can't make any modifications. we do use it for video as well as the videos are on a network server.

I have not had any issues with my laptop that I bring to the club I start having issues like this.

The thing with this sudden crash doesn't happen every time I search for a song. It seems to happen sometime in the first 15 or 30 minutes using the software. ALl I know is its making me nervous as everything has been working flawlessly!

bumpty bump.

its funny, never had that problem until i read this post..My VDJ just crashed on me but at least I wasn't dj'ing at a gig. I just deleted limewire from my computer and ran a virus check as well as a spyware check. Hopefully this wont happen at the holiday party im dj'ing this week

the computer I had this issue with there is nothing on it except VDJ. Videos don't even reside on the harddrive...they are on a network server but I was not using videos when this crash occurred.

I was told it might be related to a keyboard buffer run or something like that.

As you all know,
I just updated my VDJ version as well as video drivers (cautiously optimistic it won't crash), but before I updated (and even now) I made sure I had my MP3 player hooked up with several megamixes of different genres - just in case .

Had to use it several times. Takes the computer only about 2 min's to reboot - so it's been a life saver and the sound quality is acceptable for those few minutes.
Just a thought for you guys.

Thanks...now can someone from the team help with my issue and decipher the crashguard? :)
