hello all,
i just purchased the hercules dj console rmx and i cannot get sound from my imac. the sound from the system preferences is set to 'internal speakers' type 'built-in-output'. the only wire running is the USB from the console to a USB port on my imac. i'm also running the latest software from leopard, and the virtual dj LE that came with the console. i can only hear music from the earphones plugged in the console, and the cross fader as well as the deck A, B, and main volume sliders on the console do not respond. all other knobs and sliders work fine only through the earphones. do i need an extra RCA cable running for sound to come out of the mac? i thought it was a simple 'plug n play' system. i hope someone can help. thanks for your time.

thanks for responding. i downloaded the latest mac software for virtual dj. however i still do not get sound coming out of my imac.
in the audio section of my mac, i do have 'hercules dj console rmx, and hercules dj console rmx aggregate, and also built-in (aggregate).
but the herc dj console rmx aggregate is not selected. i have the internal speakers built-in-output selected. i am very confused. what is the audio mini setup? is this on my mac, or on virtual dj?

spinnaj,
hello. well, i am back to where i have no sound from my imac comp speakers. i now have again sound only from the headphones. i followed the
Breizh blog and nothing helps me to get the sound from my comp speakers. if i make a modification on the audio/midi section, the music comes from the comp speakers, but then there is no sound from my headphones. i do not have the 'error in the sound driver' problem. so thats why i'm worried. i really don't know what to do at this point. i did updates but i did not yet purchase the virtual pro. there has to be a way for me to enjoy the herc dj console with the virtual dj v5.2.1. and start mixing. anymore clues?

Vitinho23,
The version of VDJ included with the Rmx is pre-configured and doesn't provide you with any possibilities of changes regarding the audio, so it is mendatory for you to connect your speakers to the integrated soundcard of the Rmx ( Main output 1/2, and Headphone, reproduced on Output 3/4).
Only the Pro version would allow you to reconfigure the audio configuration to use the iMac soundcard.
Regarding the audio/midi section, I would recommand you to leave everything set to the iMac soundcard, as VDJ doesn't seems to like it if the Rmx is selected.

Dj phatso,
Thanks for your feedback. So my 2 options are to get a 3.5 RCA cord and connect iMac to console, upgrade to virtual pro.
Question. By connecting with the RCA cord, the sound will come automatically from the iMac without any configurations?
Also, I can't seem to understand how this plug connects to the back of the iMac. Is this a complicated issue? What is your
Reccomendation?

It would be much easier to simply dedicate a set of speakers for the console instead of trying to use the ones integrated into your iMac....
If you really want to do it, you'll need to connect the output of the console to the Mic/Line In of your MAc, set the Audio/MIDI configuration so that the Mic/Line In is set as default input. Default Output stays with the MAC soundcard.
Then, your would have to make sure no other program can interfere or launch and make a sound while your mixing, as they would also use the same output, etc...

As mentionned previously, it would be much easier to simply connect a pair of speakers to the Rmx.
However, If you absolutely have to use the computer integrated speakers, try this:
- Connect a cable from Output 1/2 of the console to the LINE input of the computer
- Download LineIn from this page:
http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/
- Run LineIn, leaving everything as default, and click Pass thru
You should now get the main output mix from the DJ Console in your laptop speakers.
