Topic: UMG has banned me, well only in certain countries...

a few month's ago I made a re edit of Ne-Yo's come closer and stuck it on youtube and of course got the usual thing from record companies (i've had a few, lol) allowing me to still play it but they claim all right's to it, fair enough it is theirs. Now the sods have sent me a post three months down the line saying "this is banned in certain countries" why is that ? did i put to much porn in it or not enough.... lol

banned huh? Muslim countries .... where it's ok to have 4 wives .... but you can't have a sexy video .....

It doesnt really say BANNED in certain countries ;) but rather, not available... or not allowed to view.. "This video is not available in your country"

Reason is that the record company that legaly owns the marterial you used, have allowed YouTube to show this only in certain geographical regions, but this can change any time, allowing more countries to see it etc...

This is not about Internet censorship, but you may not be able to watch every video on YouTube - that’s because the content owners have allowed access to that video only from certain countries or geographic regions only :)

Its very annoying for sure.. But a web proxy will bypass the "block" :)
 
yeah thing was it was allowed worldwide and then recently I got this message "Video blocked in some countries." they wanna make their minds up... lol
 
 
reading the article i think youtube is way to greedy on giving out the record companies cut...
