Hi All
I have 2 total control units for 2 sepreate units. On both units i have the same problems.
When loading up VDJ stops at initalizing external devices. I unplug the TC and VDJ loads up. I can plug it back in and re activate it and all the lights come back on but when i go to use it as soon as i touch 1 button VDJ freezes on me. I unplug the TC and VDJ works again.
Any clues on why or what i need to do to resolve this problem.
My 2 setups are as follows.
Setup 1
Desktop PC 2.5gh Duel core
2gb ram
1TB HDD
Windows XP
Setup 2
Desktop PC 2.2gh Quod Core
3gb ram
500gb HDD
Windows XP.
On both systems i get this problem but recently on setup 2 the total control has stopped working with VDJ all together.
Both my Total Control units have the latest firmware as i updated both personally.
Any help really appricated on this.
Regards
Nick Harding

Which version of Virtual DJ? Which sound card do you use?
I would suspect this is a possible sound card latency issue causing the software to hang.

Using VDJ 5.2.1 (if thats the most recent)
I use a usb mixer Alesis Multimix 8 so should be no sound card issues.
Don't understand how any soundcard latency issue is causing the software to hang if it's hanging with the controller pluged in but not hanging if it's unpluged.
Had a though that the IQX(or something like that) is causing the mixer and the controller to clash.
Any other ideas.

The Alesis Multimix is more intended for a live production environment, you would be better suited with a DJ card such as the DJio.
Latency can cause a hang of a software application if the software cannot speak to all of the hardware.
I would suggest running DPC latency check : www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
This will highlight the cause of your issues IRQ conflicts are the cause of such latency issues.
If you could post a screen shot of your results we can diagnose from there.

Ok not a complete solution but i have found one.
Go into config and remote control. Instead of activating the Total Control i activated the general midi.
When right clicking i pressed config and set up the buttons on the total control to what i wanted them to do.
I tested it and all the buttons work with no latceny issues and VDJ now opens and closes with no freezing.
As i said it's not complete because i have not worked out how to get the lights working under the general midi but in some ways it's better because i can set up the controller to do excatly as i want it too.
Did speak to Numark about this and they said it could be a bug within VDJ but is it a bug in the firmware of total control 1.0.2? Who knows i will speak to both to see what i can find out.
Thanks for your help

You won't do mate, thats the only draw back when you use the general midi option, you lose any LED's or back lighting the controller has.
