Topic: Is there a decent mp3 checker

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Due to recent problems mentioned on another page, I have tried five mp3 checkers and frankly they don't do the job. What i want is one that tells me if it is non playable or similar, also that it checks the whole folder so the problem mp3 can be deleted. VDJ is picking up non playable mp3s some of which could be of the wrong format. I am doing a complete revamp of my data base. Does Media monkey have a facility to rid bad files. Software i have tried is indicating the file is bad due to the bitrate or tag all of which are acceptable to VDJ and other players / tag software.

Ok due to the fact VDJ keeps saying that there are errors on my tunes and wont play them usually happening well into the gig. I removed all duplicates and checked every mp3 26000+ and removed all the ones with recognised errors. I then rescanned and recursed folders. And VDJ are still not playing the tunes due to an error, these same tunes play in Media Player and Media Monkey, itunes, winamp, now i'm cheesed off as 50 hours of working on the problem still has not resolved it. Please any ideas welcome.

Tried to delete the tunes with errors from VDJ but they wont delete also when i looked at the details of one of the tunes its path is d:\ usb
and therefore pointing to a usb stick which is not attached, i therefore renamed each database folder in turn to establish if any of these resolve the problem but it has'nt. So the problem stands that i have mp3s stuck in VDJ which wont play showing errors but confirmed to be in the folder which vdj uses however some are showing the wrong path?

A resolution. Plugged my external drives into my main pc and checked / cleaned / fixed all 6 drives which have at some point been used with VDJ, this has washed away all the errors in the database. At least this saga will give info to anyone else who comes across this problem.

Very lonely on this board lol

I use mp3tester

lonely indeed... im starting to get errors from files files that cause vdj to crash... most have been from rouge .wma files. any advice of cleaning those out? I also migrated everything to a larger hdd... how can I clean the database of the old info and consolidate a few folders into one folder or one folder w/ subfolders?

Maybe I've missed something here but have you tried to use the database check utility in the "brower" window?

The surefire way is to use an mp3 decoder that you trust and rerip everything on your drive and then rerip anything going on using the same program. That way you know for sure everything will play nicely. I use 'all to mp3' - cheap and does a great job - I've NEVER had an mp3 error.

You know that feeling ,when at the end of a brilliant gig all the punters leave forgetting to say goodnight and the DJ being the main man is left feeling a little deflated because no one thanked him for a great job done. It was beginning to feel like that. Thought the end of the DJ world had arrived but no one told me LOL. Seriously, cheers for your input. I am scanning all the BPM's again after sorting all the files, it gave me an excuse to leave work alone and go out and have a beer whilst scanning the drives, happy days.
