I know Microsoft released a beta version of Vista SP2 back in December 08.

I have also read somewhere that they may be a release of the final version of SP2 sometime in April, but this may be just a rumour.

We'll have to wait and see.

Vista SP2 will not be a huge leap forwards and has no real performance enhancements. In fact, from what I've seen of the builds so far, there isn't much in it at all that is of real use!
 
will i hope it has some fixes

my vista does get buggy sometimes .

programs stall out like vdj

it didn't happen when i had a q6600



 
if we are talking about windows 7 then there are some major performance upgrades over vista. i recieved a copy of the beta version from microsoft and i must say that it is a real big performance upgrade, even over xp. also people must remember that it is still a beta version so it is still not optimized to its full potential. which is the case with windows 7 beta

I got a mid to High spec PC, and Vista can slow it down to a crawl. Money badly spent on Vista.

Im still running XP on my gig machine, but dual booting Win7. (Using it 100% at home now)

as the guy mentioned above, win7 has been better optimised for speed than Vista has been so far, so im sure we're all hoping the Vist SP2 will have simiar boost to performance as Win7 has.

Im sure this is a Vista SP2 topic, but as with most things Microsoft, things get bloated out of proportion very quickly. lol
 
I'm aware of Windows 7's changes and improvements - I have MSDN and Technet access as part of my day job ;)

As I said, this thread is about SP2 for Vista - we don't want people getting confused and thinking the two are exactly the same thing...

Ok, Just to check that everybody knows which is which..

Vista SP2 - will update your Vista SP1

Win7 beta - will install on your PC, but its a demo, yes it might work for you great, but it WILL stop working in August 2009. (You will not have an option to safely roll back your setup, you need Vista or XP to stay on your main harddrive..)

What do they mean by SP - Service Pack. Its a package to update your comuter with most recent items from Windows Update.

(SBDJ - I know you know these, but other dont)
