What is everyone's oppinion on earbuds, I'm not talking $5 wal-mart ones but good quality pro earbuds. I have been using a cheaper pair of headphones now for some time and have started to give some serious thought about investing in a good pair of earbuds, but I would like to be sure before i lay down the cash.

here are some of the ones i have found so far.

it depends on your headphone style. if you are like me you are constantly taking them off and on then earbuds wont work

I love earbuds! I've got a pair of shure in-ear monitors, and I much prefer them to headphones. Headphones are heavy, and they make my head sweat. Earbuds help you monitor your mix better, and also protect your hearing as you won't need to crank them up too high to hear the music.

You will have to take them out to talk to people though, but for me it's well worth the extra effort!

earbuds are the way to go and shure makes a piece that plugs inline with your headphones so you can here people with out taking them out

Thanks, what model of the shure's do you use?

My understanding is that the shure has a second input. This is so you can have an external mic pluged in to pick up external music for mixing as well as people talking to you, crowd participation and stuff.

I suffer from tinnitus. go buy the shure ear buds. they are far better than headphones which will only contribute to hearing loss.

With ear buds it will take a little time to get used to, particularly if you talk on a mic. Mixing at lower volumes so you can hear the external music also takes some getting used to. Once you get it you will never go back. And you will never get ringing in your ears after a gig.

Not an earbud fan...but everyone has their own preferences. Use what works best for you. Try it out and if you don't like it, use them for your ipod. I am still old school...been using a single cup headphone since 1980.

I can only use headphones as i wear custom ear protection! http://www.sensorcom.com/prodtype.asp?PT_ID=411 is where i got mine. Work a treat and i get no ringing or hearing damage. The best thing about these also is i can hold a decent conversation in clubs as i can hear everyhting people say! They are great!.

well I posted this awhile back but just the other day i finally decided to try some and lets just say I dont think i'll be using headphones again :)

got a pair of Shure SE115's

thinking of getting the "Push to Hear" accessory to go with them too but getting used to mixing with them for now first.

Earbuds get the thumbs up form me ;)
