If you go with JBL's its
10inch Eon G2 - 50 people
Anything above I use the EON 15 G2's. For 150 people I would maybe get an extra subwoofer.
I vouch for JBL b/c I have tried other brands and have had problems. The only speakers I was impressed with that
come close to matching performance vs. price of JBL was Behringer's EUROLIVE B215A.

Nice they look pretty good, not a bad price either. I already have a 1000 watt sub so a think that should cover anything extra that a need.

I use a pair of Yamaha BR15 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet ($289 a piece) with a QSC RMX 2450 Power Amp ($699). This combination works great with the style of music I play which is mainly classic rock, rock, country, old school RnB, and very limited hip hop. If you are going to do more of the hip hop stuff a sub would be good. I have used a sub with my set up and it adds a nice punch to the sound. The speakers are very durable and the amp is great. I have never come close to clipping with lots of head room.

I really love my Mackie SRM450's. Self powered and the sound can't be beat.

How much can you get out of a pair of active 12's though? really their only good for upto 60 people just like the Art speakers that I have after that your adding a bass bin.

I hate to admit it but the Behringer EUROLIVE B415DSP sounds good and is nice n heavy, this would suggest that there is a decent speaker inside it.

I agree with dgruetter. 2 x SRM-450s and for more power add the Mackie SWA2801z (only 1 needed) The sound is phenominal.

I have only used cerwin-vega and I have been very happy over the years. I am currently using the Intense and Earthquake. The only complaints come from the neighbors...they don't appreciate their houses vibrating!
