Topic: You know you’re an old school DJ when????

You know you’re an old school DJ

1. You still carry vinyl.
2. You have no clue about Serato or any DVS system.
3. You use a telephone for headphones (Telephone handset with a ¼ inch plug).
4. You get your electricity from a streetlight.
5. You have a crew to carry your equipment and they all have sweatshirts with your crew name.
6. You don’t make cd’s, you make cassette tapes (90 min TDK).
7. Your light show consist of a strobe light and a traffic light.
8. Your fist setup was radio shack mixer, cerwin vega speakers (grey carpet, 3 peizo tweeters, 15 inch woofer), 2 belt drive technics and a silver high ball mic.
9. Your mom’s drop s you off at the party (speakers hanging out the trunk) and picks you up.
10. You sit down to DJ
11. You cant mix so you talk between each song, (introducing the song by artist name)
12. Video DJ, you play a song and pop in a vcr tape at the same time.

I see too many of that... Worst thing I see is a sitting dj.
Unfortunately "modern digital djs" and young even, are as bad at this.
A sitting dj in front of a laptop at a club gig , is just a shameful sight...

Guilty as charged! (although I replaced the earpiece inside with one out of my broken pioneer headphones, so it looks retro, but still sounds good!)

ok I'm Guilty for this the odd time when doing a radio set but never at a club :)
 
wow. vhs music videos - we actually did play those when i first started at this club.

there are some of us who have to sit down every once in awhile. between having plantar fasciitis and a service connected leg injury, 6-7 hours a night on my feet are just not fun and can make a dj downright cranky. and of course no on is gonna blame this guy for sitting down at a club:
 
yeah remember him from last year i think this was shown, makes me laugh when the cool git lights up a smoke... i'm always dropping mine at that time of night, lol.
 
Owing to back problems, I HAVE to sit down to DJ - I can't stand for prolonged periods. - can't reach the equipment without having to bend down.

Ditto here in a lot of cases, for some reason they always make Dj booths for "short short men"
 
Yup, I'm 6ft10 myself...
 
so your a bit on the short side compared to terry then...
