We saw it coming and now it's here, AVG free is no longer.
So what do you think is the best but not a beast for antivirus?
I may stick with AVG, but wondered what other antivirus is working well with VDJ.

I have a preference for Eset Nod32 (Smart Security) but if you're looking for a change Avira AntiVir is possibly the best (I've not tried Avira with Virtual DJ and have noticed that the download takes slightly longer with Nod32 installed although I've not experienced any problems once installed).
Edit: just been on to the AVG site and the free version is still available although it's for non-commercial usage only, although so is 99.9% of music.

I wouldn't personally install anti-virus software on a gig machine, it's fine if you stay offline or only visit trusted sites.

That is not what I asked.
If I must explain.....
We have more users than not that multi task with their gig machines as it is the only one they have.
Personally, I am forced to test while conducting eservice as well as use as a back up maching for gigs.
So I am wondering if people are finding problems or success with certain brands of anti virus.
Again, I don't want a beast like Norton on my system so I need options to refer users to that co exist with VDJ.

With my initial testing of VDJ, I had COMODO running AV, Firewall, etc. in the background without any issues. (Now I have it disabled 99.9% of the time and only enable it if I need to go online for Windows updates, etc. ). It's been very stable for me...

I know a few people who use Avast (Free), and swear by it.
I am presently using McAfee. So far seems to be good.

I've heard that Avest is suppose to be good too.
Although I don't have a AV on my gig laptop, I have AVG on all 3 of my home systems and hope it doesn't go for good :(
I Know AVG has been renamed to 8.5 Free.

Well apparently it will update, but its a whole new build and doesn't upgrade from existing versions.
If you select the free Premium, you also get the free spam notifications from their sponsors.
However, if you select the regular free version, it does upgrade to version 8
Still interested in new options and costs if you know what that is.

I don't have AV software installed on any of my machines - lf you keep out of porn, warez, gambling sites & are careful what you download from P2P then there's no need for it.

I found it online but they do make it a little difficult.
Latest update as of now is:
AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.5.325

Actually this is not true....there are virusus called "drive-by" viruses that just sort of sit out on the web and can attach themselves to "known" or "legitimate" sites and when you access that site they will infect your computer EVEN IF YOU did not select anything for download, the download themselves with all the assorted files that your computer pulls down to access the nwt in the first place.
I use AVAST Free on my main computer at home and I have AVG on my gig laptop, but I ALWAYS turn it off when doing a gig (as with anything else runnning in the background I know about). I am NEVER connected to the internet when doing a gig anyway.

I just installed AVG free today because my Norton expired. With AVG no I need to disable anything when I use VDJ like I had to with Norton?

trendmicro is good with VDJ and so is ALWIL
alwil sometimes makes a noise when scanning trend micro is less obvious

Eset Node 32 here don't waste time with the freebies if you care about your machines... A good investment..

Never let me down.
I also use my gig machine for multi tasking, and it has never slowed me down.
