I have 5.2.1 on a laptop. 1gb of memory and SATA HD. I am thinking it's the wimpier core duo (Gateway).
Anyhow, it takes almost 5 min to load. Once launched, it is quite frisky.
Thoughts?

This might be a clue... it 'hangs up' on loading database. The database is 150mb in size.
However, subsequent launching of VDJ is quite snappy - until it gets rebooted.
Advice?

Yes, make your database smaller, or on a faster drive - I'm going to assume this is an external drive?
This user had the same problem (with a much smaller database) which turned out to be a driver problem on his PC:

Thanks gang... FIX was the magic key. Went from 150mb to 26mb. Now it loads more better. :)
