Is it a single or dual XLR?
If its just a single, check to make sure its not an Mic input! its rare but if it is a mic input you also need to make sure its not phantom powered! (many places with a single XLR on the wall are usually wired into the high-z mic input, line level signals will usually sound terrible/distorted, and if its phantom powered, you may just shove 48 volts into your maya44!)
Your best bet (to go from RCA to XLR) is a DI-box
