Modify the mapping yourself ... see the manual and the online information in the Wiki ... http://www.virtualdj.com/wiki/VDJscript.html

are you telling me that we may no longer simply load a xml file made for a midi device? we have to learn a whole new system?

no, on the contrary, you no longer need complicated .dll library that only a handfull of users knew how to write, you can now make everything with the xml (or directly from withing VirtualDJ's Mapper page).

EDIT Yes ... as Mr. Clavel has stated ... guess we got to it at the same time ... :)

No, that ability will still be there as new mapper XMLs are built ... but in the meantime, if the native mapper is 95% of what you need, you can customize the other 5% yourself ... you don't have to wait for someone else to do it. All the control is in the user's hands now. No special programming knowledge necessary :)

There is a whole new mapping system, yes. It has addressed the issues of needing to update VDJ for support for new devices (be they MIDI or HID), added support for output too. It allows far more complex mapping, without the need for any programming skills.

It's still XML, although actually two files, depending if the definition is built in or not.

well i have to say im a bit disappointed, now i have to figure everything out again! After spending so much time writing my own xml and use it as a midi. Im having difficulty getting buttons to work like they used to, but i guess we must evolve with the technology as well...

You can't have it both ways - people wanted better controller support from VDJ and they now have it ;)

Well in all fairness, we must adapt, thats the bottom line. Im slowly getting the hang of this new way of assigning functions, but i guess what frustrates me is that there is very little "simple language" info. That link up top can be very confusing, i see it as programmer language, although im sure that to a programmer its as basic as it gets.

And if you click on the various actions in the See also, you get a description of the action with some tips on using it.

Feel free to post what you don't know how to do and I might be able to tell you rather quickly what to enter...

Btw, just for the record ... I did the default mappings for the BCD2000 and 3000 without a controller at my disposal ... so I am more than willing to help out.
