if you want to see your 3700's working perfect you must to update the firmware (from denon webpage )
Inviato Mon 16 Nov 09 @ 12:44 pm
Have anyone of you try to scratch with virtual dj? It don't sound very good. Or maybe Im missing something.
Inviato Mon 30 Nov 09 @ 6:29 pm
I have tried...and i have latency and quality problems. Only way to scratch is named "Timecode" :)
Using maya44 I solved latency and quality problems...and maya44 is not better than internal audio device of denon.
Using Maya44 I solved "switch problem"...if you switch from MIDI to USB (or CD) 3700's restarts internal audio device and it loses link with PC .
Conclusion of my tests :
to scratch....
Midi platter VS TimeCode = 0 - 2 :)))
Midi platters spinning technology is not yet ready to allow serious level of scratch. Hope is a new denon firmware that increases platter resolution to 14 bit (now is 7 bit) and a new action "denon_platter" that optimizes resources and midi data traffic.

here is how mine are hooked up:
-Plug them in USB, installed the drivers from the Denon Disc provided with the units
-I booted the units and clicked the midi button. Once they are connected, they will say "Connected"
- I open VDJ. If they connected correctly, the screens on the 3700's go almost blank and will no longer say "Connected". This means they are connected and mapped to VDJ. If they don't go blank, maybe a "0" in the top left corner, there is an issue. If that's the case, go into the mapper tab and click "Rescan devices"
The main key is that the screen on the 3700's will appear blank as they are waiting for a song to be loaded.
I had a few issues as well getting mine up and running but that order seems to work. I would not open VDJ until the midi link on the units says connected. Also, in VDJ under mapping, the only option I have checked is "Use Midi Device". I unchecked all the others.
I hope this helps you.

The USB connection your refering to is the USB-B port and not the USB-A port correct?
Do you need to connect the RCA cables also to the mixer in this setup or does the USB take the place of such? Is that the source of the sound output?
Thanks I hope this work for me also this evening when I get back in the lab. I didnt figure out and notice your point of loaded the CDJs up first then VDJ seemed to help it connect and boot up each time. My issue is I can only get sound output when I still connect my MAYA44 card up it seems. Ive choose the 3700 drivers in the drop down and its say not enough, the only drivers that allow that output is the sigma for the laptop unit itself and the MAYA44 drivers which defeats the money spent on the 3700.
I could have stayed with my stanton deck and Maya 44 setup..

Im thinking newly purchase 3700 should be fine...and is this firmware on the CDJ or as in drivers on the PC being used?

I still have my Maya44 still connected also...but did that allow you to switch from midi usb and cd with no problems?
what is the setup for that? thats my issue now..the switch from one to another and I loose compete sound

I just got my 2 new Denon S3700 in a few days ago.
Have a few problems that i can't seem to get worked out.
I've been all through these and Denon forums looking for answers,
I really don't know what i'm doing wrong. Here it is.
I hooked up my 3700's, installed all the drivers from the disk, inlucuding Denon asio driver V2.1
updated the firmware, i'm using VDJ 7, The decks are in default settings mode. I didn't change anything.
I open up vdj, the decks are recognized, they light up ect,, i load a song on the left deck, and it also shows up in the right deck.
I hit play and the config/settings screen opens up, and won't close.
I really need to get this worked out,
Figured I would ask the BEST of the BEST.
ANY help would be great,
Thanx in advance.
*HERE ARE MY SYSTEM SPECS*
Dell XPS M1730 Laptop
Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit
8Gbs Of Memory
Intel(R) core(TM)2 Duo Cpu 2.6 Ghz
1.16 Tb (2 Hardrives Installed) Raid 0 Config.
All current windows updates installed.
Thanx Again,

Each deck should say:
001
002
Does it?
Inviato Mon 15 Nov 10 @ 5:08 pm
No, they both say 001.
Do you know how I can change it?
Sorry for the trouble.

you can change the deck assignment in the Mappers tab. Click on the Mappers options and select the decks.

Ok, well i assigned the decks.
It's still doing the same thing.

If the problem is with the screen not closing the windows, try right click on the desktop and choose "personalize" and then select Theme "basic". Try that, that helped me and I have also Dell XPS 1730M laptop like you but i'm using windows 7
Inviato Tue 16 Nov 10 @ 3:43 am
Thanx guys, I tried changing the theme to basic,
but it still doing the same thing.
Both decks still need to be set to midi 1?
And unit set number to "ALL" on both?
Starting to feel like i just blew 1,700 bucks.
All these years, never saw anything like this.
Thanx for the help.

Should I try running a specific version of VDJ,
instead of V7?
instead of V7?

Push Eject, I believe this will switch between 001 and 002.

No, its just a config issue.
Many others are up and running like me.
I'm using 7.01 and firmware v2010, no problem.
One thing to try is to, uninstall the players while in MIDI mode from the Hardware Device Manager.
Make sure VDJ is closed when trying. Then reboot the players, set to MIDI mode, allow the PC to "find new hardware", then open VDJ.

DJGino:
You may have to assign your decks to specific unit numbers directly on your 3700s, although this is not a "must" in some cases depending on other settings on VDJ. Anyway, I would try assigning left deck to 1 and right deck to 2 directly on your Denons. Let us know your results.
Have a good day.
