Topic: VDJ 6 not searching words with accented letters.

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Many French and Portuguese/Brazilian words have accents, for example: CE SACRÉ PIANO, FEITIÇO DE ORAÇÃO

If I type \\\"Sacré\\\" in VDJ search box, VDJ will write the word in a wrong way and so will not show me results.

If I type Oração, I will have the same problem etc.

Is there anything I could do to fix the problem ?

Thanks

With a French keyboard, there is no problem because we have a key "é" on it.

Is it the case on a Brazilian keyboard or do you have to press two keys for it? (according to your screenshot, it seems to be the second idea)

I have an iMac24 ", so I use it with its original keyboard. To make it international, I installed this software: http://www.brockerhoff.net/usi/

Yes, I do need to press 2 keys to get the "é "key but I think this is not the problem.

For example, why do I have no problems when typing to search in MixMeister Fusion Mac, Disco XT Mac, DJ Pro Advance from Visual DiscoMix ( under Bootcamp / Windows, Pages, Office for Mac etc ?

Here are some screenshots:

That's the reason because VirtualDJ reads both keys separately for the moment and not together.

Currently, I can only advise you a copy_paste of these special letters in the search field. With this solution, it will be recognized in the search field.

1- The VDJ Search field is not supporting "PASTE" here in my Mac. Using "Text Edit" I typed "Sacré " , copied it ( Command C) and pasted it ( Command V) in VDJ Search field. Well, THE LETTER "V" WAS PASTED. Please, try in you Mac and let me know if you can also experience the same problem. Thank you !

2- It sounds to me that we have now 2 bugs. What do you think ?

3- All software I have in my Mac like iTunes, MixMeister Fusion Mac, Disco XT, Logic Express 8, Wiretap etc, they all support typing the "é " key for example, with 2 clickes, as well support "Copy & Paste ". The exception is VDJ.

Hi Cel,

Would you not have something to say about ?

Thanks

I will have a look this week-end.

I Thank you.

I've made a recent topic about it and ACW answers me. It's quite easy, just type normal caracters instead spacial caracters and the search engine will show the expected results.
Oração - type "ORACAO"
Réu - type "REU"
The only difference about our issues, is that I'm using a PC version, but I think this can be similar at Mac version

In spanish there are accented letters too, and i never type it with accent.
i.e: pégate, i will type pegate, and VDJ find the correct song.

Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread but VDJ mac is worse when you use Hebrew words.
i see squares instead of letters and of course i can't search either.
still got no response from atomix.
now that i see there are problems with other languages I'm sure its a bug.
