she likes everything and everybody and hates everything and everybody, at the same time:D

DJ Rene is my 20 year old son's name, it's Renée, that is the proper spelling for a female of the name, ending in two "E's". The male version of the name ends with a single "E". YES, I said male version. You know, like Carol O'Connor and Stacy Keach, both seemingly female names. In Europe it is more common, especially in the Latin countries of Europe. My middle son's (of 3 sons) name is Julio René.

No big deal, I just thought I mention the typo. lol

damn, no wonder ronnie never answers my pms, sorry ron... lol

LMAO, I remember when Tayla first came on the scene.. there was confusion. How about those days, Tayla?

Renee has stated a few times that she prefers Desktops. Size does matter.

hehe, sure do, you should see how long this tooth is now... lol

I actually love laptops, they are great for shopping, checking e-mail and browsing porn. And thanks Rude name clarification.

Truth be known that's my stage name, my mother thought MYRTLE was cool when she named me and yes size does matter sometimes.

The processing power of modern laptops is not bad at all. I use several programs for performance at the same time like VDJ, Total Commander, Winamp + minilyrics, Sample Tank, EAC (ripping CD's) with no problems. But I have to use:
- external keyboard
- external mouse
- external monitor (to see all programs)
- 2 external hard drives
- 2 external sound cards
With desktop last two items could be internal.

The first lady of VirtualDJ has said many times that she would prefer to use a desktop PC to do her DJ work with.

:)

Mark, This is true but I appreciate the folks that use a laptop for VDJ as they provide me endless hours of reading about
"Over Heating" and "Crashes". I'd be bored to death without the laptop peopleZ !

(PS: I do love the title you bestowed upon me, First Lady beats Drag Queen any day of the week.

djrenee, are you mobile? the reason i ask is i'm mobile and i use a desktop when i dj, and i was wondering
how much time do i have playing every weekend. (wear and tear) it's been 6 months. no issues. (knock)

If people look to laptops for portability, then also consider that desktop PCs can be portable...

Shuttle.

and it fits neatly into...

with enough pockets for your keyboard, mouse, mains leads (and maybe room for a controller in the top of the bag, too)

The one thing you might want to be thinking of is connections. Things that were intended to be in place on a consistant basis will have a higher probability factor, I found out the hard way.

I was setting up wedding went to plug in my keyboard and the keyboard was not lets say all together. Inside the plug was still on the computer without the keyboard. Just so happend I had an old laptop in the truck with excel file of all my music placement in each folder (made it when I first went to CD's ). The laptop itself had a copy of EJAY but did not have a 1/8th cord. So using 3 different tools to get the job done.

Now the same thing happend to the usb port on the same computer the same year. Luckily I had a usb hub tucked away.

On my new desk top ( well, 2 years ago ) that I use for more stable locations I came across static shock when plugging in the power cord. In rush situations I would plug my power cord in wall socket first then unit which created a static shock to the mother board. Sometime the unit would not even get to the OS so it was just a black screen. Now thats a scary moment to have the computer turn on but thats as far as it got.

Then you have your basic bumps and bruises that a PC will take on no matter how carefull you are. So use a shuttle because desktops don't like to knocked around.

that bag dosent pick up any static, and its been 'walking' around the boot/trunk of the car before now. lol

in over 7 years of using these shuttles, ive not had issues with wear and tear on any ports.

this one is nearly 5 years old and the older one lives in my living room, acting as a media player.

I would say it takes just as long to set this up as it does with a laptop.
all my harddrives are inside the cube (2x1.5tb, 1tb and 300gb for OS)

I 100% agree with you. I was stating opinion on desk tops and towers.

I'm glad it only matters "sometimes". You have given me hope.
