Guys ... thanks for the feedback ... I am currently working on how we might be able to support the modality options of the units.

Though this units might seem 'simple' they are not ... so have patience and be assured we are working to best support these units without third-party interfacing.

Same for me guy's, da router offer more control around the mode features, which i do like, however if i didn't have to run darouter then this would be all the better.

I suppose you could pull it off if it is causing you problems... it's kinda neat how it sticks to the side of my mixer so it won't slide across the table.

Hmm... last time I checked, my beer wasn't magnetic. Are you sure you're not drinking rust?

Easy guys...ive just recently bought the scs3 system and was looking for the best software to use it with and cant test it on virtual dj without buying it first. Have you got a video of the system working on virtual dj on youtube as all the ones ive tried on this forum have been removed.

Very cool. Under options tab throttle the jog and scratch sensitivity down to like 4-5%. should work very well from that point. I've got some new maps I'll upload soon that take care of some of the bugs with gain and sampling. I shoot the link up here with cstoll's permission.

To switch between the jog wheel, sliders, and trigger buttons, you need to send sysex commands to the darouter. For example, if you open MIDI trace, and send: F0 00 01 60 01 03 f7 to the darouter, the mode switches, and you get sliders instead of the inner strip and outer ring.

Does anyone know if there is a way to send these sysex commands to VirtualDJ with VDJScript? If there is, it doesn't appear to be documented anywhere...

I see in the new 6.0.7 version, there is a new feature:
Quote :
new item for MIDI definitions: <text sysex="">

Does this relate to the above at all, allowing native mode switching on the SCS.3D?

DaScratch works just like what was documented by Stanton for version 5. But you must revert to the VirtualDJ Default mappings.

** ALSO, YOU DO NOT NEED DaRouter *** - If you have it installed, do not run it prior to running VirtualDJ - it is not necessary.

So copy the mapping file from the My Documents\VirtualDJ\Mappers folder to another location if you have made custom mappings.

Delete the mapping file from the Mappers folder. Delete the definition file from the Devices folder.

Then launch VirtualDJ and see a NEW life come to the SCS.3d units.

Btw, the definition for the SCS.3m with my original mapping has been added to this version. So, you can delete that definition if you still have it in your Devices folder.

Hmm... I tried VirtualDJ 6.0.7 with no added mapper or device definition, and the stanton SCS.3ds don't seem to be recognized, nor respond at all.

They still work fine if I add back in my mapper (which is just a heavily customized version of yours). Am I missing something?

You need to remove the definition file from the Devices folder as well. As it is over-riding the new definition.

Nope, I actually have a completely new installation of Windows 7 and I didn't even have VirtualDJ installed until today. Before I added any customization to VirtualDJ, I tried this out, and the controllers did not seem to be detected :(

Oh... wait .. sorry .... reset the DaScratch back to MIDI Channel 1 ... hold PLAY+(cover all of pitch touchpad) if all pitch LEDs are lit then press the PLAY but to set it to channel 1.

With my other mapper I had you change it to channel 2 I think ... :P

Well, I tried setting both of my units back to channel 1, and that didn't make a difference. Still nothing detected in VirtualDJ. Any other suggestions? I tried a few other channels too, with the same results.

[edit]
Oh wait a minute... I restarted virtualDJ and it appears to be working now, although my controllers are in reverse order. I will play with them now :)

Very cool - it's great that now VDJ supports the multi-modal interface that Stanton advertises, and natively.

From a few minutes of playing with it, here are some cursory observations and my feedback:

-The LEDs on the unit do not reflect very well the functionality of the buttons when the mode is switched. It's very hard, or even nearly impossible to tell what the bounds of each button are, especially without good lighting (which seems typical of a DJ scenario).

The VU seems a bit confusing in the FX mode, and the red LEDs to not reflect the FX parameters. The same can be said with the EQ mode.

-I also think the pitch slider should be in relative mode by default, which seems to be as Stanton recommends it, but at least it does function in an obvious way.

In any case, I'm very happy for the new support!

Yeah, I wanted to get some feedback on the LEDs that is why I didn't get to creative with them. Plus, I had about 10 other controllers I was building support for :)

But, post here what you think should be the right LED setups and I will look into making that possible. Btw, it's already possible; it's just putting the right codes together :)

Well, my suggestion would be the following:

-On the FX and EQ modes, set the red LEDs so that they represent the levels of the EQs or the FX parameters.
-On the trig mode, make the blue LEDs around the jog light up to highlight that there are trigger areas there. You can do the same thing with the red LEDs on the other side of the pads.
-Something like this should also happen for LOOP, but I can't remember if it's the exact same number of pads or not. I really haven't drilled down into the fine details of your new configuration yet.

This video shows a pretty stock configuration, which might be helpful:

And Mixxx had some neat ideas in their implementation:

TBH, I still rather like the way that I customized your old controllers and I'll stick with that - I don't really want the multimodal type of configuration. However, I think it is important to refine the new custom configuration so that it more closely matches the default sort of setup that Stanton shows off. Almost there, just need some tweaking with the LEDs :)
