If I well understand, you should enable the master_tempo/key_lock feature

Well it depends on what skin you use. Generally the "key" button will be above, or below the pitch control slider. Click it on and the pitch or key of the song will stay the same no matter where your tempo slider is set.
I'm using MFF VJ 6.4 skin and the small button marked "key"... is above the slider. It is blue for the left deck, and red for the right.
On this skin you also have a key change knob that displays "Am" - A minor... and can change key up or down in increments. Like Am to G#m to Gm to F#m to Fm to Em ending with D#m.
Turing the knob to the left takes the song and scales down it's key as listed above. Twist to the right and go up in scale ending with D#m but 1 octive above the low D#m. It makes Madonna sound like a guy turning the knob to the left, and like a chipmunk member turning to the right.
Pretty cool stuff. Learn to use it right... and you should be able to create some pretty cool music and mixes.
