Topic: Just purchased VDJ. Longtime PCDJ user. - Page: 1

Well, I've been using PCDJ for about 7 years and never had any problems. I had a crash several weeks ago and found I had not installed XP in 2 years. I went back in and reinstalled and, after installing PCVJ, it wouldn't respond as before. I couldn't get half of the things to work.

I tried the VDJ trial for a couple of weeks and LOVE IT!!! I know, I know! It took long enough.

Anyway, thanks to Steve Lynch for helping me to see the light.

See ya on the boards!

How some of you guys held out for this long is beyond me.

I keep wondering when we're going to see Scott - Magic Moments and Dwight, and who was that dude they all beat up on all of the time?
Man did that guy have thick skin, he just kept taking it and giving them a reason to breath on that forum.

Edit: Just remembered his name, it was Boomer, man did he take a beating over there.

I recall many saying the same thing on the PCDJ forums years ago (when I first joined them 5+ yrs ago). When ya do it full time, and put so much time and energy into knowing, learning and mastering your system and tools, it's not so easy to just drop and move regardless of how much better it is. I have been putting in a TON OF TIME learning my VDJ workarounds, hacks and methods just as I did with PCDJ 5-6 yrs ago. I can't wait until I'm settled down and 'there' so i can get back to my dj business. Thankfully, I'm just about there . . . and still glad I moved :)

We'll all see . . .when the 'next best thing' comes around in 5 yrs . . . all of us 'veteran' VDJ users will be still here for years and all of you will be over there saying "what's takin ya so long?" LOL.

Welcome again, Kevin!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Virtual DJ. Happy to finally have ya aboard.

Welcome aboard Kevin.

Hi Mate,

Back in the day PCDJ was industry standard in the UK but that's long gone now, I used it for years too.

I don't know how you guy's held out for so long either?

Just think there are a lot of people still using it now and will be for years to come no doubt.

For he did not know that he was blind, and is bought forth into the light. He has sinned, but did not know he was a sinner. Hallelujah, and praise be to VDJ. Thank you baby Jesus, for you are righteous and can make a mix tape. Go, and rock the party in His name. Amen

It happened to me when I tossed FiX and went back to red.
The thursday before gig Jason/Cyder hit me up and said "look at this" and I went along with it and downloaded the trial version.

At my Sat night gig, I had both Red and VDJ 1.0 on my lappy and MID SHOW made the transition and never looked back.
The following Monday, I was the proud owner for a mere $50 and got one for Jason for xmas.

I know what you are saying about learning new tools, but the hardest thing was re creating playlists. (which was due anyway)
I've tried several other programs and never had the ease I had adapting to a program like VDJ.

From there the two of us started posting about it and fighting off the naysayers on the different forums.
I clearly remember Ryan saying "that is consumer grade software, not professional at all" after I had sent the link and some skins to play with.

Hell, we made Andrew a belever even, hes now our GM.

Hope you guys aren't drowning down there Kevin, I know Steve is on high ground but the pictures are not good.
The lakes should be full soon, that was horrible to see also the last time I was down there.

Totally agree. From the "DJ'ing" standpoint - extremely easy to pickup and use, and an incredible program at that. (Throw in my new HC-4500 controller and I'm like a kid in the candyshop) Actually a nice lift in the spirits as it's become fun to dj again ;)

Yea, getting all of my playlists recreated has been the most time consuming (5 yrs accumulates alot of junk) I've even recruited my office manager to help some. (Actually technically "paid" my office manager, not recruit ;) I exported all of my PCDJ Waitlists, imported to Excel, and simplified the list to just track/artist. I reorganized alot of my physical storage/location too. Learning some of the other ins/outs and hacks/workarounds has been a close 2nd in time. While painful at times, It has been a great experience to "clean" and purge alot of my music and get organized. Overall, a nice fresh start again.

Welcome Kevin.

It's good to see some familiar folks from "across the way".
