As you are using laptops I assume you are using an external HDD.
Try running a couple of vids from the computers internal drive and see if you get any improvement. Some external drives can be a little slow when loading video especialy when playing another video at the same time.

Try to keep the USB load down by using as few USB devices as you can.

Make shure you have gone through the basic tweaks for laptop use IE switch off and shut down any wireles apps and software that you don't use.

Hi Daz

Thanks for your help. @ the moment am using the internal HDD as I got 1 terrabite in my laptop and still have plenty of space. the only usb that am using is TOTAL CONTRAL and EXTERNAL SOUND CARD. but to be honest it seens to be fine just for videos at least for an hour, then when I mix mp3 convine with videos, that when it start to freeze. normally I shut down all programs and disable untivirus. and Iam running vista for best perfomance.. any suggestion...?

Just a thought. How hot is youre laptop getting?

If its running ok for a hour or so, could it be overheating?

Plenty of people mix video without issue; myself included. The key is usually the video card and OS version - both of those are DX10 cards.

It's a hardware thing on the card itself as to whether it is DX10 capable. VirtualDJ is a DX9 application - running it under Vista (which supports DX10) with a DX10 capable card seems to cause some people issues.
