I have been doing some research on Djing using Virtual DJ. Are the SLDZ1200 turntables compatible with VDJ? Can i timecode with VDJ with these turntables or should I go another route?

You can use timecode CD's with any CD-deck.
 
Time codes work with any cd player. These technics decks, i wouldnt recomend them. The pioneer CDJ 800 are better or you can get the Denon DN 3700s. They normally sell for 899 each but you can find it for 699 each.

It really depends on you. Many Djs like using equipment hands on like a Pioneer CDJ 800, 1000, denon 3700, 5500 or NS7 or vci 300

If you are not really into hands on and are comfortable with just pushing buttons, you cant use a Denon HC4500, Denon hd 2500, Numark DMC 2, hercules RMX
 
Technics might not be industry standard anymore but there still a good deck and no doubt there will be a lot of used ones about, good for someone that's just starting out and on a budget
 
Thanks for all the feedback. I apologize for asking day 1 questions but i dont know alot yet. But just to clarify, you guys are saying all have to do is put a timecode cd into the SLDZ1200 then i could use VDJ to drag and drop whatever song i want to play in each deck...correct?
 
Essentially, yes. You will obviously need also a sound card with 2 stereo out & 2 stereo in channels. After that all you need is a legal licence to Virtual DJ Pro, tweak up the settings and you're good to go.

Run for the hills, do not buy them they are the worst cd players technics ever made..matter of fact the only dj cd players technics ever made and they failed. do yourself a favor and look at the pioneer cdj 800, or something by dennon.. you will thank me later. if money is an issue check out ebay.
