Can anyone give me suggestions for a decent set of Wireless Mics for my new residency
I need them to be robust, but don't cost the earth. I've been looking at these ones, any good?

Wireless mics are one area of life, Jimmy, where you get what you pay for. I use Shure PGX series wireless mics. Great range, very solid durability and as close to studio quality as your going to get from a wireless mic in a live environment.

Shure or sennheiser are booth ok. Years ago, the shure mics were made in the usa but they are being made in another country. Shure & sennheiser are made in the same factory with the same components. Which ever one is cheaper..
Here in the USA, an old wireless mic may not be good anymore due to the fact that its now illegal to use one with a freq of 698 mhz and higher. The HD transition....

Go for Shure and UHF not VHF (unless you like listening to interfierence from all sorts).
The Kam ones are ok so long as you have a good supply of batteries they tend to eat them.

The one I'm looking at getting is this
http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/7067-sennheiser-freeport-vocal-system.html
Nothing but good reviews from what I've heard. But it would be £240 for a pair though.

Well the experience that I and everyone I know has had is this, Sennheiser wireless mics are crap. Made in China at a really low level! even lower than the cheap mics themselves.
Had problems with UHF and found VHF better,
Shure are good and used by most singers in bands etc however if you want a good cheap mic, everyone I know including myself is using the Dual Kam 1920's (Rackmount:)

Funny you mention wireless mics. I just went to the Guitar Center to buy either the Shure PGX or the step up, the SLX series. My salesman that I deal with there convinced my to buy the Sennheiser G3 series. I'm doing a youtube video on it, It will be out later on in the coming week.
I love this mic, it has 1680 channels, extreme range and I can walk in front of my speakers without feedback! There are other features too that make this a great wireless mic.
Check it out...

One of the other things that make this a great system is that the capsules can be interchanged. If you want a cardioid, super-cardioid or a condenser module, all you have to do is unscrew it and put the one on you want.

Get the Sure and be done with it. OR...
For a cheap but good sounding solution try these
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-NAD-DKWDUOHTBD-LIST
I have both. The Sure is reliable, durable and sounds great. The Nady is VERY lightweight, not durable at all, sounds surprisingly good, Very cost effective.
If you are not hard on your gear and have a tight budget...Go for the Nady. If you have more of a budget and want a better mic, go for the Sure.
PS. I would love to know how to do the "look here" thing and have the link come up instead of posting the link itself.

sennheiser = fell apart. literally.
shure = work horse until boss dropped it. some people need those pet collars that shock them everytime they get near the booth.
we're using a "make-do" wireless right now till we get the shure back from repair - if it can be repaired.
