Topic: Dual instance of Cue/VDJ

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi all, in an attempt to move forward into the new versions of Cue/VDJ I am wondering if I can install the new version on another partition on my HDD and then run my old version and my new version separately? This way I can use the new version to get used to it but if I need to I can easily open my current version and get to work?

My laptop HDD has 3 partitions. One for XP and programs, another for Vista (it's leaving soon) and a third for files etc... Can I install 6.0 on the file partition and NOT have it overwrite my current version located in my C: drive?

Thanks.

you can do it a LOT easier than that :)

In CUE/VDJ install folder, inside ProgramFiles...

Find the EXE file that starts the program (VirtualDJ.exe, or Cue.exe)

Right click this exe, and choose COPY.
Then inside the folder, right click outside at the white space, and choose PASTE.

Rename the copied EXE file, to for example VirtualDJ 5.2.exe or what ever else you want ;)

Then install the new version.

You can then run your old version from VirtualDJ 5.2.exe (or what name you chose), and the new version from VirtualDJ.exe

(if you want, yo can also place shortcut to both exe files at your desktop, for easy access)

Thanks DJ, will that same process work for Cue 4.0 ( I know, I know) So when i do the copy and paste that shortcut will then draw what it needs from the Numark folder and then the 6.0 will be there also?

Would what I described work also? Similar to a dual boot OS?

Thanks.

yes, will work for cue too..
but DO NOT COPY the shortcut, cope the EXE file itself, and rename the copied one (to say Cue 5.exe)

You can install Cue/VirtualDJ to any place you want, so in a dual boot, you can have cue 5 at xp, and cue 6 at vista..
that will work too :)

Just be careful if you are installing cue at xp and vista, to same place (external drive for example). In this case, it would not work, unless you copy the exe and rename it, before upgrading.
