does anyone know or has been able to use the VDJ6 function MIDI_clock?
I couldnt find it in the VDJ Wiki (even a verb related to it..)
but since I saw it mentioned in a thread I assume its for real?
What type of output is it?
is it a 'beat count' IE:send a signal for every beat..
or does it just send a # or bpm..
thanx!

MIDI clock is very specific in it's definition; 24 pulses per quarter note.
As for how it works in VDJ6 I don't know - I still haven't had a chance to test it.

There doesn't seem to be much mention of this anywhere.
All it seems to do according to the text in the VDJ mapper area is turn "the LED" on or off!

Like SBDJ sayd its 24 pulses per 1/4 beat.I hooked up my Edirol Pcr50 controller (as a midi to usb converter),then my Emu XL-1 Midi synth (which has internal Beats,Arpegiators that respnd to Midi Clock) (so it would recieve and send Clock while Vdj was Running and Nothing!!..Oh well..theres no control in configurations and the Emu synth was recieving(and sending...) on all midi channels at the same time But neither woul sync.this would be Automatic on standard MIDI gear...

Would someone from VDJ care to comment?
It would be nice if VDJ sent out a MIDI clock signal locked to the tempo of the playing track.
Is this functionality hidden away in VDJ somewhere?

Im afraid they never wrote this very usefull function into VDJ..like I sayd it would had being an instant connection if it did.(and YES I think Someone in DEV TEAM should at least answer this !) anyways there could be a different approach to this.there used to be an Audio to midi sync converters made by a Few music equiptment manufacturers that might be the only alternative.one in particular i heard worked fairly well..this is just in theory but if theres a software that worked in the same principal...But Strange...it seems in VDJ the sole purpose of midi clock is to blink led's in mixers..ha..(why am i laughin..this is well..Stunning..)...Hummm

Since VDJ has the BPM, tempo, master clock, etc., it would be a much cleaner solution to have VDJ send it. From what I have read it is a very simple and basic structure to send.
When I look at a lot of the equipment out there (like the KORG Electribe or the Roland SP-555) most of them support MIDI CLOCK. Many of the other DJ software (like Traktor and others listed in this forum) also support MIDI CLOCK.
I have tried the mapper in VDJ 6 on my MAC with a Roland SP-555. The MIDI_CLOCK appears to do nothing. There is no clear code in VDJscript that puts out the 24 pulses per 1/4 beat or the other items such as START and STOP. All other functions, such as mapping a button to a function in VDJ, such as samples, works fine. So far I have not seen any MIDI output from just the MIDI_CLOCK.
I am getting to the point that I must consider moving beyond VDJ since I have started using more hardware based groovebox systems to work alongside VDJ that I may have to move to something else I mentioned above and cancel my subscription to VDJ.
This feature has been asked for a long time. How hard is it to either program xF8 out a MIDI port 24 times per every 1/4 note? Add xFA, xFB, and xFC for START, CONTINUE, and STOP? Or, how hard would it be to add the capability to read xF8 and derive the BPM, which then could be synched? Or, if it already is done, how hard is it to add it to the WIKI? Syncing in OSC is more difficult then a simple MIDI CLOCK, but that is what is used (if I remember correctly) for multiple instances of VDJ to sync together.

If this function will work then it would be possible to sync VDJ with drum machines and grove boxes. It is possible with Traktor.
