I already own the Vestax VCI-300 and am using it with Lappy and VDJ, however Santa dropped me off some bonus money and was thinking of playing with the Numark NS7 as well. From the people who actually have hands on experience which controller do you think is better and more stable. I like the Vestax cause of its portability however, I would think the NS7 would be more hands on fun and better for scratching when wanting to use it.

stick with what you know, but if you're considering a ns-7, may as well get some cdjs
Inviato Sat 26 Dec 09 @ 11:03 am
Go to the store and try the NS7... My opinion.. I like the NS7 more than the VCI 300. I have the VCI 300 and the more i use it, the more i want to sell it and get the NS7. The NS7 is alittle bigger and i can dj more comfortable. I like the larger jogs.

True but if I get CDJ's I need a mixer as well, then I'm getting into an expense I'm not sure I want to. Is it true the Numark is more of a memory hog then the Vestax?

yeah, this is true, but you can have a "decent" at home setup (cdjs and mixer) for around the same price as the ns7.
if you're a club dj, then I (personally) wouldnt get the ns7. I mean, we already get sideway looks carrying a controller into the spot, ya know? Not that I care what folk think (their opinion always changes after i've ripped them a new one at the end of my set), but the ns7 is just too clunky to bring into a dj booth

If you want to use NS7 with VDJ, you must have a MUCH more powerful computer!!!
Inviato Sat 26 Dec 09 @ 1:18 pm
If your laptop has above specs from what the requirements are, then your fine.
Club Dj's Dont bring there own setup... All you do is show up with your laptop Plus your own Cartridges & Needles with your own timce code Vinyls or Time code Cds and just pop them into the club setup. If its a small bar where the spot doesnt have a setup, then you bring your equipment. The NS7 at a spot like that would rock the house..
With The NS7.. You have 2 choices.. Use Itch software or Virtual DJ.. CDJ's & NS7.. The outcome is the same when it comes to DJ iing. You select and track and play it... If you want a back up.. You can always hook up and cheap CD deck to it and play a mixed track incase you have a problem.. You probablay wont have to.
Why settle for decent when you can something better. The NS7 does what its supposed to do and alittle extra.. @ Dom 1410... If you like it.. Buy and thats it. You are the one thats using it. When im thinking about buying something, I just go to the store and try it out. Only you can tell if its comfortable enough, Small or large, Or if its worth it. 29 inches wide and 14 inches in diameter is not large... 34 Pounds is not heavy..

I agreed that NS7 is a fantastic equipment, but you can forget to use it w/o glitches if you don,t have MUCH more powerful computer!!
With ITCH you can do it.

I don't know which one the Numark or Vestax is better. Santa bought me an RMX. I am totally blown away. I would say that the RMX is the best controller out there. I mix and the quality of the sound is amazing. I love the RMX and find no need to move to anything else. I am not a scratcher but the RMX will beat freak so easily. So I am an RMX fan.

If you dont know which of the NS7 or VCI is better, then how can you say ther RMX is better. I owned a RMX, I have a VCI 300 and i messed around with a NS7 a couple of times. The RMX is a budget controller. I sold it because i didnt like it.. You have to use something to know what it feels like..

This should answer that question. If your not going to scratch the RMX is a solid device. The NS7 and VCI-300 are designed more with scratching in mind. Take scratching out of the equation and the differences between all three of these controllers is negligible, outside of price.

Ns7 : YES
Vci300 for scratch ???? : NO WAY !
Vestax is the same as Rmx ....BUT so far BETTER

Sorry Man-TK, but yes..watch this...
It might not be traditional table style, like the NS7, but it does and was designed for scratching. As opposed to the RMX....

you can scratch with 2 cassettes ....but Vci300 it's for house djs ...not so good for scratch ....If you like scratch Ns7 is the way to go ...or 2 TT with time coded .... I 'm not telling that you can't scratch with Vci ...
The video it's ok ....but the same dj with 2 TT can be better with no doubt

I want to buy a controller also. I have no place around here to try so I have to buy sight/try unseen/untouched. I am looking into the RMX or the Steel. I just want to be able to beatmatch, I don't scratch. I want to be able to beatmatch like I did in the old days with vinyl but don't want the digital vinyl or digital cd's etc. I want an allinone
