Can someone tell me if adding a sound processor really add that extra sound fidelity and clarity? Do they work and what do you recommend.

all you need is a maximizer.VG360 Sonic Maximizer

For the price the bbe seems reosonable, Thank's for the reply.

Just be careful..I blew some cones when running my system at standard volume but enhanced with a processor.

I just bought the bbe 360 and plan to use it with my RMX to my B52 self powered speakers.

How did you blow your cones? In the manual it says to make sure you power the maximizer first then the power amps could that be why?

I meant bbe 362 not 360.

I'm used to running my mixer faders at a certain level to attain a desired volume. With the maximizer engaged, the volume wasn't louder, but the bass was enhanced ergo blowing the woofer! heh, don't get me wrong, the BBE sonic maximizer did enhance the sound. It sounded great, but I prefer to use it in the studio now just to give my tracks a little more sizzle and oompf. I get a little too carried away at events and the extra hot signal just ended up being a liability for me :)

Do you think the bbe is overkill for my basic setup.

The politically correct answer would be, "Nothing is overkill if used properly".

A processor will make any sound system sound better. The higher the quality of components you have, the better the sound will get. Just be careful and watch out for the bass enhancing knob!

Will your crowd notice? Nah. Will you get paid more for it? Nah. Will your mixtapes sound better? Yes. Will you be happy just knowing your sound is a little beefier and crisper? Maybe.

Personally its not something I take with me on jobs. I'm also running a full RCF sound system with a Rane mixer, so I get great audio quality already. A maximizer is just one more thing to lug around in a rack.

Buy it and try it out. If you don't like it or don't feel it's worth having then return it to Guitar Center or Sam Ash or wherever you got it.

Thank you Kizzle for the info I will try it and post back my findings.

+1 to what djkizzle said. I do live sound for a living, and I always use processing, but I'm probably the only one who notices. On the other hand, if I were to turn off a maximizer halfway through a set, everyone would notice the sound quality drop.

right-o..
