Thanks.

The I7 processor is great, its a big step in processing power and with 7 cores it would help vdj run much lower latencys
AO as far as processors go id get an I7 over anything else.

It's 4 cores for a TRUE i7 processor and only 2 cores for the i7 mobile.
i7 - http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei7/specifications.htm
i7 mobile - http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei7/mobile/specifications.htm
i5 - only 2 cores - http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei5/specifications.htm
i5 mobile - also 2 cores - http://www.intel.com/products/processor/corei5/specifications.htm
But yes, the i7 is a better spec'd processor than the i5.

This is the system I was looking at.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU Type Intel Core i7-720QM(1.60GHz) Quad
4GB DDR3, DDR3 1066
Video Memory 1GB GDDR3
Intel HM55
GPU/VPU NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
Video Memory 1GB GDDR3
Or should I go for a faster Dual Core CPU like the Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.8GHz?
Is a faster Core 2 Duo better than a slower i7?
Thanks.

No, a faster core 2 duo is not faster than a "slower" 1.60 GHZ 720QM i7. On my windows experience index I get a 6.9 for my laptop running an i7 720QM CPU on my other PC with a X9100 core 2 extreme 3.06 GHZ cpu I get a 6.6 and as far as I know the X9100 is the fastest mobile 2 core CPU, I can't go any faster on that laptop.
I am at a 6.9 with 720qm i7 CPU and I can still swap out the CPU and upgrade for higher models of i7 like a 820QM or a top of the line 920XM (Drooling).
