Topic: Using MS Excel for Play Lists

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I wasn't sure where to put this so I thought I'd put it here.

I noticed that some people have had some difficulties with play lists disappearing when they load a new version of VDJ or some other bug.

Here's what I do.

I open the play list with MS Office Excel, Then I copy the information on the first path to the first title and use the replace feature in MS Office. I put the whole line in EXCEPT the song title. I delete the title. In the "replace with" field I leave that blank,

The line will look something like this :

C:\Grand Archives\Music Production\ Master MP3's\Good Times.mp3

Delete the path portion,: C:\Grand Archives\Music Production\ Master MP3's\

Leave the song title then select the" replace all" feature and have nothing in the " replace with" field leave that blank. Then hit replace.

Then what you will have is a list of all your song titles as a back up and although you still have to recreate it in VDJ that won't take so long.

Also FIRST create a separate file and copy that play list from VDJ into that new file. It's very easy to fek up a play list with excel and make it unworkable in VDJ again if you accidentally hit save or something else.

When you do save THE COPY that you opened in excel, give it a new name.

And if you deicde to experiment with Excel make sure you have that play list as a copy in a separate folder!

Lastly, create a play list folder separate from the VDJ play list folder and as you make a new play list copy it to that new folder then you will have backups

Hope this helps
