Hi folks,
I'm having trouble with my PCDJVJ software.
Its been happening more frequently recently than before.
What happens is once ive been running the software at a gig for usually about an hour a little grey box appears in the centre of the screen of my laptop with the following on it.
On the left a yellow smiley "acid house" happy face with press here and everything should be ok written underneath it and on the right another litte picture of a red cross x saying shutdown.
When you click on the yellow smiley face it just shuts the software down and exactly the same if you click the red cross.
Above it is written something about DJ Crashguard.
It never happens when the Karaoke software is in use eg the words on the screen but when its just music playing, and mainly when im typing in the name of a song for the software to search for.
It happened 6 times in one gig i did and in the end i refunded them there money.
I have a Hewlet Packard Laptop with Widows Vista and i use external hardrives with music on,
also the software is not on my laptop but on the external hardrive.
Please please please ANY HELP ! would be much appreciated.
Cheers ,
Baz

Well, I'm not sure who here would be an expert on PCDJ. It is my understanding that the folks from VDJ licensed some video code to the PCDJ folks but how it interacts with there software would probably be best asked of the PCDJ support team. Since you show as an unlicensed user, I'm sure the support staff here will not be rushing to help.
But from my knowledge of computers, it is not recommended to run an application from an external drive. If possible, run your software from the same drive as your OS. Vista is a very buggy OS. I would suggest that you either downgrade to XP or upgrade to 7. Check your computer specs against the recommended specs for PCDJ.
Also I would suggest you check the PCDJ forums. Maybe someone there has experienced this problem. Good luck.

think the best idea is if you could send your crash guard reports to the pcdj support staff, they'll be able to decode it and give you any advice on the course of action you need to take.
funnily enough about two year ago i had similar problems at the hour mark, it turned out to be a heat problem, clean out the usual stuff but also check the paste where it makes the connections, turned out there was none on my heat sink, a dab or two from a tube costing a couple of quid had the lappy running good as new. not saying this is your prob but easy enough to check off the list.

First, you're program should always be hosted on your computer. So you need to reinstall VJ into your Program files directory. Just backup your database before you uninstall and copy and paste it back in the VJ folder under my documents after reinstallation.
Give that a shot and see how the system performs. If you still have problems, then we need to look more closely at what you're doing at the time of the crash, and if you're doing a search, what you're typing.
