Topic: Using the NS7 with Virtual & Cue

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

I have come to the conclusion that Numark and Virtual dj have released a product that was not ready to be released... I have been a Numark hardware user for years and a Virtual DJ/Cue user since it's biginning and I love their product. Untill Now. I think they have really jumped the shark this time. I have been sitting here with an NS7 for 6 weeks and it still doesn't work. I have tried 4 diferent computers that are all at or above the minimal standards for operation and I am still dead in the water... Not to mention the Mic/Line in feature that they admit doesn't work and only last week did they fix the headphone issue. I am thinking, class action law suit. After buying a custome road case, a new laptop, hdmi to S-video converter, Ect... I am $3200.00 in the hole with no salotions to the problems. I have givin up. Someone had better fix these isues fast or i'll be making other phone calls then to just tech support. After reading a lot of the posts in the forums, I'm sure that there are plenty of DJs out there that are as pissed off as I am. FIX IT!!!

Before you do, you should realise that the NS7/Virtual DJ is not an officially supported combination. The guys at Atomix are doing the best they can to make VDJ work with the NS7, but you cannot expect 100% compatibility from day 1 if Atomix were not involved in the development of the hardware/drivers.

A lot of people jumped on the NS7 and just expected it to work with VDJ. This is testiment to the hard work that the Atomix guys put in to making VDJ compatible with as much hardware out there as possiible. However, in my personal opinion, I would not have invested such a huge amount of money in new kit unless I was 100% certain that the hardware would work with the software of my choice.

Your talk of law suits is a bit OTT. The NS7 comes with ITCH which does work as it's supposed to. As you say there have been plenty of discussions about the shortfalls, but unless Atomix have the internal documentation from Numark then how do you expect them to get it right first time?

Cheers,

Roy

I understand having a few technecal issues here and there but to release it to the public without having something like the mic input or headphones working is jumping the gun a bit. As for cue and virtual not being supported for the NS7 that not completely accurate. If you walk into a guitar center or sam ash music center they are now advertising that it works with both. All i'm saying is they need to come right out and admit on there web sight that they are having these isues, post the issues and say we are working on them. That you are buying at your own risk instead of pushing sales on hardware that's not up to par.

Have a great day.
Mike

So did you ask Guitar Centre where they got their info from? I would prefer to get the real answer from either a Atomix support rep or the developers themselves. I mean you're on the forums, ask or post a support ticket...

Cue was released to work with Virtual Vinyl - a competely different product from the NS7. The fact that the NS7 comes with ITCH shows that Numark partnered with Serato on the NS7 and not Atomix. If Cue was compatible with the NS7, why wasn't it shipped with it???

Either way you look at this Atomix can't win. If they release something too soon, people will complain. If they hold back and don't release anything, people will complain.

They have openly said on the forums that they know of these issues and that they are working on them. It was even stated before the NS7 was launched that full compatibility wasn't gauranteed.

And if the mic/headphone issue is buried deep in the drivers, and Atomix don't have access to the API's/info to integrate them, is that Atomix fault or Numarks fault?

Please - research these forums, search and read all posts relative to the NS7, then think before making such rash claims!

Have a great day too...

Roy

History -

Numark NS7 was designed via a collaboration with Numark and Serato.

Being Numark is a 'Global' distributor of goods, they did not tie themselves to a 'closed' system architecture with Serato.

However, there are things that the NS7 inherently does better and most likely will always do better with Itch because of the collaboration.

VirtualDJ provides the engine for software under the Numark branding of CUE and VirtualVinyl - VirtualVinyl being the soundcard included package, while CUE is distributed just as software.

VirtualDJ was not priviledge to any of the development information until AFTER the NS7 released to the market. So, the inclusion of the unit in VirtulaDJ came significantly after hitting the street.

So that is the history ... to present day ...
The MIC is a feature that HAS NEVER been a part of VirtualDJ. Mic support embedded in the VirtualDJ software has never existed. This is a 10+ yr fact. As for the NS7, we have acknowledge from day 1 that the mic doesn't work in VirtualDJ or the Numark branded version. We have never hidden from this fact.

As for your headphone issues -- the configuration you have is incorrect if they are not working. And the setup has never been a problem. The proper setup is --

Input - None
Output - Headphones
Soundcard - ASIO and select the NS7 from the drop-down list.

And I have extensively written about the Numark advertising before and will not bore people here with the long post of the past. But the issue is simple - VirtualDJ provides the DEVELOPMENT of the software. VirtualDJ has never ADVERTISED the supported features of the software with the NS7. If you are seeing advertisements of what the software is suppose to support then you need to go to source of the advertisement and ask "why?" they are incorrectly advertising the software's support. This is not the place for those complaints and we do not control how a product get's advertised with the exception of our own.
