i can not seem to find the cdj400 icon under the remote control icon. Can someone please help?

This means that the version you are using is too old and does not support the CDJ-400.
Please download the latest trial http://www.virtualdj.com/download/trial.html (Controllers are automatically detected in v6 providing they are plugged into your computer at start-up.)
