The owner of a bar I work at wants to start a "rewind" Friday night. You know, the retro thing, he mentioned 70-80-90's with some videos on his big screens (I got plenty of those).
What would be a good set list of retro to get ppl on the dance floor from 9 to 1?

This is a subject that has been brought up before in this forum ( http://www.virtualdj.com/forums/114778/Music_discussion/80_s_dance_set_list.html ), albeit it only addressed 80's retro, but at least it's a start.

Yeah, i see that. This time i really would like a complete retro (70-80-90) keep'em on the floor set list.
Anyone else?

Don't know if it'll fly in your venue, but I've been filling floors with early 90's hip-hop lately. Tupac, Biggie, Digital Underground, Naughty by Nature, Black Sheep, old Jay Z, Kriss Kross, Cypress Hill, Fugees, etc..

Damn, If I got the go ahead on something like that- i would lose my mind. Theres much more options to play during those decades than today ( in my opinion )>>>
prince, 112, madonna, anything funk, bobby brown, guy, morris day, vanity 6, tina marie, rick james, jermain stewart, bbd, next... there you go. That's 30-45 minutes right there...
Then you have a whole bunch of MTV music-
then theres funk and disco
then you have the classic rock but danceable
See... easy... I just filled your night

Ummm, did you not read my post? I said it was only 80's to get you started. "Anyone else?". Why don't you try Googling hits from the 70's and 90's instead of asking forum members to teach you how to DJ... and show some gratitude next time, Jeez!

Sorry if offended. What I really meant by my comment was that "I was the one that originally started that thread for several 80's theme parties I had coming up at the time, but this time i was looking for hopefully complete set lists, perhaps from some guys who were already doing this sort of stuff (being 70-70-90 rewind/retro). Sorry if my post sounded snappy guy. Did do some googlng as well.
Once again, my apologies. Words on a screen can sometimes be deceiving or taken wrong when there is body and facial language to accompany.

Around here in Seattle for retro sets, the 80s seems to work better for the dance floor than most of the 70s\90s stuff
Try this combo to get your dance floor started:
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Madonna - Into The Groove
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
Human League - Don't You Want Me
Phil Collins - Sussidio
Inxs - What You Need
AC/DC - Shook Me All Night Long
Bon Jovi - Livin on a Prayer
Outfield - Your Love
I can go on and on....but there has never been a gig where those songs have failed me on a retro set - even with the most difficult crowds they always dance to that stuff. Well, the women do....

Bryan - good luck on your retro set man. I love having the freedom to work with 10-20-30 years of hits rather than being stuck with whatever is on the radio. This should be a good night for you.
Keep us posted on how the gig evolves.
Is there a dance floor at this bar?

Yea, there is a small one butted up next to resauraunt tables, and the hip hop kids are downstairs in the basement the same night as well. The owner wants to copy a place across town that seems to attract a lot of 30+ ppl.
