Topic: Denon 5500 & VDJ

Questo argomento è obsoleto e potrebbe contenere informazioni obsolete o errate.

Hi Guys,

I have been offered a pair of 5500 for a nice price. Never used them. I currently use the 4500 with VDJ. And I have used 3500 on many occasions at clubs but not too impressed and feel on me twice.
I am really thinking on getting those 5500, But would like to get someone’s honest opinion on the units.
1) How flowless it is with VDJ? Any latency issues?
2) Is some tweeking needed in VDJ or is it just plug and play?
3) Does VDJ fully support that unit?
4) Any current Bugs I should know of?
5) Since each unit is 2 deck in one how does it work with the multisinstance option?
6) Is there any card conflict when used in Multi-instance?
7) Any overheat issues?
I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks.

O_O.

Hi. The 5500 are excellent but the new 6.0.7 and 6.0.8 updates are absolutely rubbish. The 5500 are easy to map & the sound is class out of them.

I will agree we had issues with ver 6.0.7 ... but ver 6.0.8 specifically addressed motorized platters issues that were in 6.0.7.

So please explain your comments about 6.0.8 as that is not the majority feedback from users that have the Denon 5500 and 3700 - which are the same motorized platters.

Good.
They will come with an Intertal 160G HD. Can 1 Unit mix 2 different source (i.e. Unit internal HD and External HD Hooked to the PC).

What about Latency and Multi-Instance?

Thanks

Sorry Guys Wrong Channel.
I'll redirect my questions on the Denon Forum.

They can when you d-sync them.

When I press play on any of my 5500's it sounds like your turning the platter to start the song never had this problem with 6.0.5. Don't get me wrong I love Virtual DJ but I'm just sick of the bugs and crashes. I'm using a new Imac with 4gigs of ram, 1 tb hard drive , on bootcamp with windows XP.

Cheers Cstoll.. It helped with the starting problem, press play now and it works as it should, but when I play a song it sounds like the pitch slider is moving up and down. Any ideas on that..

Thanks Again for all your help..

congratulation for the baby :) !!!!

Much better than annoying Software Problems *Smile*

I use two denon 3700s and I don't have any issues
.

There is one problem! and the is remedy for this is working knowledge and practice.
if you come from vinyl you will not have a problem.

DO NOT STOP THE PLATTER WITH YOUR HAND!!
Use a light hand with scratching and cueing,
VDJ does not Track correctly if the platter is stopped.

Other than that it's gloden.

I am still running 6.04 havnt had time to upgrade yet...
might just wait for 6.1

I am having one issue
if your scratching and you want to go slowly over one portion of the song.
it's breaks up. it's also very hard to go slow.
I have played with the sensitivity settings but it doesn't seem to change anything

I might be the sound card setting

Setup Denon DNS 3700
Windows 7 64bit
Maya 44 USB with 64bit drivers

Has there been any improvement for the 5500 users yet?

Sounds like I should steer away from denon...

Use timecode. no problems there IMO.
