"popping" sound when the crossfader is moved. Is this is a hardware defect? It happens regardless of input source. Everything else seems to function great. Setup with VDJ was a breeze!

Considering that the Mixer portion of the unit is not tied to the software and if you are getting it with using regular CDs - then yes, I would consider that a hardware issue.

OK, thanks. Played with the Mixdeck some more. it's definitely the crossfader. When there is nothing playing at all, and I move it, I hear a popping noise as it adds in the other channel (meaning on the hard slope, as soon as it's moved slightly to the left or right). So I guess the question is, am I stuck with this, or is it defective? Sorry to post on VDJ's site about this...I can't really find any Numark forums.

Numark does have a Support tab on their site ... with an 'Ask a Question' option ... might try there.
