Any recommendations for microphones to use with Hercules RMX? The one I have is too simple and does not provide enough output.
Thank you in advance.

Shure SM-58. Industry standard vocal mic. Are you plugging the rmx directly into an amp or powered speakers? If you are running it into a mixer, you should be running your mic into the mixer, too. The RMX has a fairly low mic output, in my experience.

Perfect. Thank you. I'm aware of the limited output from the RMX, but if I'm buying a new mic, I would like it to work directly from the RMX if possible. According to Hercules, I should choose one with 600 ohm. The Sure SM58 only has 300 ohm. But if you have tried the SM58 directly from the RMX and that works, then I will go for that one.

Well if you plug your Shure SM58 directly into the mic input, it won't work (the volume will be very VERY low), because of the impedenca difference thing-y.
One solution would be to buy an external mixer or this (like I did): http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/MIC100.aspx
However you will still have a problem if you wish to record/broadcast your mix, since the mic volume will still be quite low, when recording, don't really know the solution to this problem... You might have a better time not buying the mic before you got the money for an small external mixer too.
Cheers!

Hello Perragnar,
a) Can you precise where you read this information that you should use a 600 ohm microphone on the Rmx?
In my opinion, it is definitely not true and it is a mistake, a limited impedance generally provides a louder ouptu, so you should not go over 100 ohms for the microphone, except if your microphone has a high sensibility, otherwhise the output will be low.
b) I have tested the SM-58 on an Rmx and it works but the output volume is too low. A work-around is to use the SM-58 as audio source instead of using it in talk-over mode, as in ther link of Phatso:
- 1: set microphone as input 1-2 in DJ Console Rmx control panel,
- 2: activate the microphone input with “Source 1” button instead of the Mic On/Off button of the Rmx,
- 3: set the microphone volume on the microphone volume button,
- 4: add gain with DJ Console Rmx left deck gain button
to get a louder volume when using your microphone on DJ Console Rmx (since the gain button adds an additional gain - VirtualDJ software gain – compared to the talk-over mode on DJ Console Rmx) In this way, you lose the talk-over mode, but you get an additional software gain.
c) I have a microphone whose specification is too far from SM-58, but whose output is much stronger, it is Stagg MD-1500 (600 ohms).
